Why it's hard to take the Libertarian party seriously.
I posted this as a response to another thread, but I thought it was a good example of why a Libertarian presidency would be a disaster (if it ever happened at all).

A buddy of mine at the office is a registered Libertarian and was reasonably excited about Bob Barr being the parties Prez. nominee. Two months ago he went to Barr's official website and ordered a t-shirt and yard sign for $40.00 (both of which were listed as "in stock"). Two weeks later he STILL hadn't heard anything from them. He finally sends an email and is told that both items are back ordered, so we go to check the website and lo and behold, both items still say "in stock". He waits another week, gets pissed, and emails the website demanding a refund. They send one of those "we're so sorry, please excuse us... blah, blah, blah" emails and tell him they will refund his money.
Fast forward ANOTHER week. He is STILL waiting on his refund. He emails the Barr website AGAIN and the lady he has been corresponding with tells him they CAN'T REFUND HIS MONEY ELECTRONICALLY. There is some lame ass excuse about how they can only RECEIVE electronic funds, and that they have to cut him a paper check for his refund, and to email her by that Friday (this was on a Tuesday) if he hadn't received his check.
Folks, that was THREE WEEKS AGO. He still has recieved NO CHECK, NO ELECTRONIC REFUND, AND NO T-SHIRT OR YARD SIGN. He is FURIOUS. They've stopped responding to his emails and of course the website has NO phone number listed. They pretty much took his $40.00 and ran. I've been having a field day... poor guy won't even talk politics anymore because anytime he starts in someone asks him "Did your refund come in yet?"
Poor guy...

3. And "One contract to rule them all". It's why
libertarianism really is just dorm-room philosophy....every contract is self-justifying and unenforceable in a libertarian dystopian fantasy.
