I wonder if Pat Buchanan knows the modern origin of the phrase "It's Pat"
And, if so, whether he really would agree to be one of Rachel's recurring guests.

I can't stop laughing at "It's Pat" Buchanan.

1. What's the "modern origin"
of "It's Pat"?

I plead ignorance.

Wikipedia

Pat was an androgynous fictional character created and performed by Julia Sweeney for the American sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, and later featured in the film It's Pat. The central aspect of sketches featuring Pat was the inability of others to determine the character's sex.

10. Thank you for the explanations
I am of the generation of the original SNL, and quit watching it when it stopped being funny - to me, anyway.

So, thank you.

Bay Buchanan is scarier than her brother.

11. I'm right there with you...
I was still watching during the Eddie Murphy years, but didn't last long afterward. The original cast and writers were fabu. Then it became embarrassing. However, I did watch on Saturday evening, hoping they'd do Palin, but it was a rerun. I will tune in for the season premiere.

As far as "Bay" being scarier than her "brother", I always found "Mrs. Bates" far scarier than "Norman Bates" as well. Guess it's that whole "psychopath in a dress with lipstick" film genre.

5. That's a pretty funny name for the segment
and it's probably flown right over Pat's head.

I guess quarreling with Pat is going to be a regular element of Rachel's show...she keeps calling him "my fake uncle."

7. I'm sorry but
I had to turn it off now, I cannot listen to that idiot anymore. The sound of his voice sets my teeth grinding. Why the hell is he screaming about how bad the media has been on that poor "lady" he called her? Sickening man.
