Rant - I can't believe this woman could be one heartbeat away
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 11:33 AM by fed_up_mother
from the presidency.

HOW STUPID ARE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? Even more stupid than I thought, and I've been thinking that they're pretty stupid for a while, now.

This is freaking me out.

Even if we win, I'm just fuming that half of the electorate is this bat-shit crazy.

Can you imagine this woman president of our country in the midst of a depression? As president with more wars that John McCain started before he keels over?

Surely, she would be a token figurehead? Who would really run the country?

Oh, wait...

the gang from PNAC.

:puke:

If I were younger, I think I'd seriously be looking to move to another country.

3. PNAC? Well.. now you know why Bill Kristol pushed her on McCain!
As well as the head of the Southern Baptist Convetions "Ethics" Committee, he pushed her as well.

4. I have made this exact same rant. On all points.
Just ask my husband or my mother.

Wait, here - I'll join you. :puke:

It's absolutely terrifying that she's even the nominee, and more terrifying that HALF THE COUNTRY IS BLIND!!! :hide:

5. You're not alone.
It's hard not to have contempt for people who actually think voting in another Republican is going to change 8 years of Republican catastrophic governance. It's hard not to have contempt for people who refuse to do any investigation into the truth of what McCain and Palin have been saying. They treat our elections like they're picking out drinking buddies, and our country goes down the drain because of it.

8. I know republicans who are ashamed that Bush was such an embarrassment
to this country, but they're going to vote for McCain because....he wore a uniform and was a POW?

6. My blood pressure was up for a few days after she was announced.
It wasn't a party thing; more like a worry for the well-being and safety of the US.

People are thinking with sound bites, not with critical thinking skills. They like her energy or enthusiasm. They are liking her for reasons that have nothing to do with how she'll be effective or ineffective in office. We need to find a way to get people to start thinking about the hard stuff, not the "I'm comfortable with her and would like to invite her to tea" mentality. I'm afraid we won't be able to do that until after her one and only debate. Hell, even their campaign won't put her on a very long leash.

John McCain's ability to make good decisions wasn't big on my list of his weaknesses until this happened. His excuse about being happy to live with the consequences of his rash decisions doesn't help the rest of us.

9. Palin is more dangerous than McCain. McCain is a politician who would say or do anything to be POTUS...
Palin is scary-dangerous because she's both stupid and a religious freak.

You're right about PNAC, they'll easily control her. Forget about Obama worrying about being killed, McCain better start watching his back.

14. It is pretty incredible and appalling. Many are that stupid, that fearful.
What I find appalling is not just the electoral fraud, but truly how many people there are that think that way. But, it has happened in other countries over history and there is not much different here.

A friend and I were talking about this exact thing last night... and it's frustrating, infuriating and depressing. I don't think spending the next 4 years in bed will be helpful...

I say things like "But I thought you loved this country! I wonder how she'll handle Putin. She can't handle the press."

"I wonder what the Iraqis will think of her Holy War ideas. Do you think that will make us safer?"

"she didn't know anything about freddie and fannie. isn't the mortgage problem the single largest economic issue of the decade?"

FEAR> that's what they get. it's simple. they can't respond right away. and sadly, it's true.

18. How stupid are they?
Enough people in this country voted for Bush that he ended up holding the office for 8 years. He certainly didn't win that office in 2000, and I personally don't believe he won it in 2004 either. Still, a lot of people voted for him. If they were stupid enough to do that, they're stupid enough to vote for Palin-McCain. How stupid are they? Pretty fucking stupid!
