Father's miracle rescue of three-year-old daughter from storm drain
It started as a playful splash in a huge puddle, but it quickly turned to disaster as little Leona Baxter was sucked into a flooded storm drain.

The three-year-old vanished beneath the raging water and was swept 200ft underground through a tiny pipeline while her parents and sister looked on in horror.

But incredibly the toddler survived the ordeal and escaped with minor abrasions on her forehead and face. And last night parents Mark and Beverly told of their relief after fearing she had almost certainly drowned.

3. Yikes!!
Why can't they cover storm drains with grates?? I lived for years next to a huge drain my skinny little boys could slide right into. I couldn't relax whenever we walked by in the rain!

5. There was a grate.
The authorities surmise that it was pushed off the drain due to the amount of water in the area - it was flooding in parts of England this past week. Because the children were playing in a puddle, it probably wasn't apparent that the drain was uncovered.
