Rove: Attack Ads Have Gone Too Far

Posted on Sep 14, 2008

President Bush’s former aide Karl Rove knows a thing or two about crafting campaign messages and, although he does not spare Barack Obama’s campaign, he now says that John McCain’s team has gone beyond the “100 percent truth test” in its recent crop of ads targeting the Illinois senator.

2. Karl Needs A Breather...
Look at all the shit that Camp Gramps has thrown over the past two months. It's been a non-stop barage of sewage...every trick in the book tried and I suspect things are getting a little out of control. Camp Gramps is fighting not just Obama now, but a media that isn't buying the spin like they should. Palinpaloozah is starting to take its toll on both the polls and resources. Without her skirts nearby, Gramps is getting ignored and Rove must be seeing a backlash starting to happen as Grandma Barracuda embarasses herself to millions. Don't kid yourself, that Charlie Gibson moment will be a soundbite long remembered...her Dan Quayle moment (but who knows, we still a debate to go). The temp is too high even for Karl to keep up with.

This isn't a truce...just a time-out. He is hoping to cool down the media war and re-load with a final barage...going underground as much as possible (hate radio, wingnut blogs) to run the inevitable "be scared of the black man" campaign that is sure to be in the cards.

3.  Interpretation: They figured out this tactic, so hit the other guy too
The press has been picking up the lies in the ads. Of course, nothing that Barack has said has been out of line or over the top. But Rove includes him in the "over the top" comment. Typical Rove.
