Iran's Ahmadinejad: US 'Empire' Nears Collapse
The Associated Press

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Iran's president addressed the U.N. General Assembly Tuesday declaring that "the American empire" is nearing collapse and should end its military involvement in other countries.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said terrorism is spreading quickly in Afghanistan while "the occupiers" are still in Iraq nearly six years after Saddam Hussein was ousted from power in Iraq.

"American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road, and its next rulers must limit their interference to their own borders," Ahmadinejad said.

He accused the U.S. of starting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to win votes in elections and blamed a "few bullying powers" for trying to undermine Iran's nuclear program.

---
"A few bullying powers have sought to put hurdles in the way of the peaceful nuclear activities of the Iranian nation by exerting political and economic pressures against Iran," he said.

6. 700 billion bailout is definitely no where near a collapse
Had it been 800 billion, he might be onto something.

3. Well, as far as that goes,
He is quite correct, and he isn't the first person to say so.

The US is an empire, the US "wars" in Iraq and Afghanistan are occupations with the usual reasons for occupation: resource grabs.

Is he any better? No. But he does have good reason for his viewpoints. Moreover, he would not have gotten close to power had it not been for the blowback from US dabbling in other peoples countries over.......ta da!!! Resources.

He also has a point on Israel, if the US would stop mistranslating his words.

America emerged from Viet Nam still a superpower after pissing away a boatload of money. In 2005 to my horror I realized Iraq and Afghanistan were going to do in America as a superpower.

Wars are won or lost on the moral/grand strategic level. This one's lost. The surge is a success is Rovian BS and Ahmadinejad is right that the American empire" is nearing collapse.

Everyone in the military reform movement can see it.

7. Military empires lead to economic collapses.
When the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, never in a million years did they expect their empire to come crashing down around them a mere few decades later. Overspending maintaining this worldwide empire will lead to economic collapse.
