McCain and the Republicans are using this to distance themselves from Bush

and his administration.

And conveniently, this is happening right before the election when they badly need to convince people there is any difference there.

I'm really beginning to wonder if Paulson's plan was drawn up so badly on purpose so they could do this - a real smoke and mirrors plot.

Then McCain can then try to claim that he put aside politics (the bogus suspending the campaign) and brought bipartisan agreement to a more workable plan (of course, it would be heavily loaded with trickle down BS and other trickery).

And the Republicans in Congress can then use this to point to and claim how apart they are from Bush even though they were instrumental in acting in collusion with Bush and getting the US economy into this mess through their insistence on deregulation, etc.

We can't let them get away with this.

1. Palin just claimed that *'s plan was the only way out
so I'm not sure how that's distancing themselves.

2. Are you referring to the Couric interview?
The AP piece on that says:

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h21ZbzgPbTVRftcJPT5vkHkonY5QD93D7TBO0

NEW YORK (AP) — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says the United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn't act on the financial crisis.
Palin's comments came in an interview Wednesday with "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric.
Asked whether there's a risk of another Great Depression if Congress doesn't approve a $700 billion bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."
Palin said the answer to the financial crisis doesn't necessarily have to be the bailout plan that the Bush administration has proposed, but should be some form of bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.

Though she's not pressing against Bush's plan, she isn't pushing for it there either.

I just have a bad feeling that we are watching a major ploy going on.

3. I agree that there is a ploy going on
and I know it concerns, in part, a power grab and a robbery. You may be right, though, it may also include some crap about McLame, although I don't think the GOP is going to be able to push this off no matter how much lipstick they use.

4. I'm heartened that Reid just made a pitch perfect statement
saying the debate should go on because "we need leadership, not a campaign photo op."

And you're right about the lipstick.
