The Chinese
A couple months ago, Belgian Banking group Fortis (previously "Generale") stated to be in need of cash to finance their acquisition of the dutch ABN Amro bank. This capital was found with the Chinese, and made the Chinese the largest shareholder of Fortis.

All my alarms went off. This same bank, which was an institution almost like the National Bank, got a takeover bid from Carlo De Benedetti. This provoked a huge outcry, it was "unacceptable" that foreign money would own such a belgian bank. This deal with the chinese on the other hand passed without a whisper.
Fortis has the biggest "risk" portfolio with exposure to the US. They needed money and got it from the chinese, who now own the bad assets as well.

And it was the chinese that requested the US government would backup Fannie and Freddy, or else! Which precipitated everything else; I read it on DU a week before the crash.

The chinese are só running the show. The lone superpower that PNAC speaks of, is no more. Except, in military terms...

regards
bmc

PS: the Federal Reserve is NOT a federal institution.

1. yep... Poppy Bush was in China in the 70s setting up deals with Chinese industrialists and
WalMart's go to guy Jackson Stephens, as a first major step to the global fascist agenda - New World Order. Chinese elite, Saudi and Dubai elite, along with Poppy Bush and his powerful circle have been pulling these strings for decades.

3. Carlyle. And I didn't know about Bush Sr in China.
Always doing charitable work, the man.
You are right, the fight is against the octopus
of global predatory corporations,
and the culture of self
feeding them.

IN China, btw. NONE of this is coincidence.

The way WalMart emerged in the early 80s like a behemoth using cheap Chinese labor, including the labor of prisoners and children was a serious maneuver to punish the American worker who wanted RIGHTS and a fair paycheck. They made community by community dependent on those low prices as they gobbled up their Main Street shops and businesses. Now many are stuck working there as well as shopping there. The old 'company store' that should have been a reminder of the worst of the good old days for working class.....it's baaaack.

5. What's sad is the willful ignorance of so many...this thread should never have sunk. It's as
important to what's happening as there is....certainly far more substantial and serious than many Dems want to admit.

6. And I didn't just pull that statement out of my ass..
a Republican Congressman actually point blank said that to somebody I know. That China runs Wall Street, everybody in Congress knows it, but nobody knows what to do about it, kind of like the crisis we're in now.

9. I've heard for EVER that it'll all come down to US vs. China
With WHAT would we even "verse" them? It's like a light-weight fighting a heavy-weight; it doesn't happen.
