D/FW National Ovarian Cancer Coalition 5K today - THANK YOU, DU!!!

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of my fellow DUers, I was able to raise $575 for today's 5K fun run in Grapevine, TX earlier this morning. We had a record turnout of over 2,000 runners and walkers today.

Every time I thought about just walking the rest of the route, I remembered your donations, your loved ones, and my wife's 20th year of surviving ovarian cancer - and I pushed myself back into running, Jackson Browne's Running on Empty playing in my head.

My feet may be aching and my back may be stiff - but I feel great that I could represent my fellow DUers and their loved ones in today's walk. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

And next month, we've got the Dallas Race for the Cure (breast cancer). It'll be my third year with RftC.

I always get a little verklemmt when I see cheerleaders from the local schools cheering us on. We're not running these 5Ks just for the survivors - we're doing it for the next generation, too.
