Calling the Republicans out
If you haven't already, you should look at the exchange between Bill O'Reilly and Kerry, link included below. O'Reilly is incensed because the Democrats have been in control of Congress for two years and should have told the public just how bad things were financially. I mean, really, really, explained it to the public with those distress symbols they use on cartoons (the name of which always escapes me) and not the calm "irrational exuberance" explanation that Greenspan tried to give us years ago.

Okay, it's time to tell the truth. Republicans know what Democrats are good for. It's all part of a game they play. I know because my Republican brother-in-law explained it to me. Republicans throw caution to the wind, spend money, take investment risks, shoot for the high life, and denigrate anything that doesn't advance those goals. And, this is important, they know that it won't last forever. Let me repeat that: They know that it won't last forever. They know it isn't a plan for the future, they know the good times will come to an end. That's why God made Democrats.

Democrats are the ones who have to make the unpopular, hard decisions and get the country back on track. They're the ones that the Republicans can continue to hate even when it's their mess the Democrats are cleaning up. It's all part of the game. Because the thing is, that Republicans are good at claiming that the mess they created is really OUR mess. Listen to O'Reilly. He keeps talking about not allowing partisanship to get in the way, when he really means, don't look too hard at our mistakes because we (Republicans) still want to maintain a leadership role so we can continue to fleece this country since no one has the balls to stick this one on us.

So the question is, how do we break this cycle of abuse? How do we let them see themselves for the selfish bastards they are?
