Paulson didn't get his $700 billion no oversight protection money he was demanding IMMEDIATELY? Can we believe anything this "expert" has to say?

10. I went last night, there was plenty of food
ok, ok, I'll fess up. They were out of the industrial size cans of refried beans in the ethnic food aisle. Who'd of thunk that with the world coming to an end there would be a run on refried beans?

And with all the prognostications, seeing-into-the-future, and economic fortune telling I read on DU, I would expect most of us posting about this to be an expert also.

11. I remember exactly where I was and who I was talking to 2 1/2 years ago
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 11:23 AM by seemslikeadream
I said this housing "thing" was a pyramid scheme and very soon, probably 2 years it would start unraveling and those at the top would take all and leave us with nothing(and now they even trying to take that from us). I am a grandma in the middle of a corn field who doesn't get paid a red cent but I knew what was going to happen and I prepared for it as best I could. Though I feel very smart this morning it does not ease the pain I feel for friends and families going through this.

12. Great list. A keeper. They didn't really need anyone bright. After all, he works for not so
bright people - Cheney and Bush - who are more the killing type, than brains. Couldn't figure out a peace goal even if they took some gingko or got a vitamin push.

Bush is so deficient that he once told us that he was the Peace President.

22. I Can Answer All Of Them.
And you never posed a tough question.

Furthermore, my choosing to not waste time educating someone incapable of understanding basic concepts and who it is already known has such a closed and narrow mind that no new information could possibly be used by them in changing or altering their opinion and stance, is simply the reasonable thing to do; especially when one has only so much time.

24. No, You Didn't.
You said to prove that the bailout would work. It's an ignorant question on its face.

First of all, no one has ever stated that the bailout is going to save everything or solve everything. It won't. What it is, is a first step in a lengthy process in order to have some confidence brought back in and have the credit freezes stop, therefore halting or at least significantly slowing the downward spiral. It is the credit issue that has the potential to affect the lives of millions of americans adversely and it has already begun through credit card limit decreases, credit card accounts being closed, etc. The bailout will help open up the lending gates again which is of monumental importance right now. If you need proof of that then just open your eyes and read one of the gazillion news articles posted about it.

Yes, the bailout will help get the credit flowing again. Maybe not perfectly, but flowing. And no, it won't solve everything. Yes, there needs to be more done afterwards. But yes, we still need the credit flowing again before it starts having a significant impact on everyone around us.
