Barack Obama selling the bail-out in Reno today
Has made a decision to actively sell passage of the bill. Taking ownership, and doing an excellent job of it. (Speaking at rally in Reno)
* Framed as rescue, not 'bail-out'

* Situation affects everyone in America

* Needed to prevent small business lay-offs and missed pay-rolls

* Not a hand-out to wall street millionaires

* Suggests raising FDIC insurance ceiling to 250K

* Emphasizing that loss of 700 Billion is highly unlikely and that break-even or profit are distinct possibilities.
That selling job should have been done by House leadership a week ago, but better late than never.

Meanwhile, McCain is running ads about what crap the bill is, while pretending to work for passage.

1. The 700 billion
represents only about 1% of US mortages and as such isn't the right solution.

2. He also said on the first day of office he would totally review the bill
because it had things he didn't like, but for now it needed to be past soon.

He gave the speech a leader needed to give.

4. by then the whole 700 billion would be given away........I listened
to his speech today and him saying how important it is we do this now...

that makes me leary.

the audience didn't seem to be in approval of that part of the speech either..

11. That's not necessarily true.
As I understand how the bill was written, the Treasury would get $250 billion up front and then have to return to Congress for more.

Is this incorrect?

5. Yup, was there - I heard it...
All the talking point to let them steal $700 billion.

I finally had to leave when Obama mentioned 'Clean Coal' again.

It really is tough being a Progressive Liberal Democrat...when you know our dem 'leaders' are saying the earth is flat.

9. Well then help me to understand...
Tell me what I don't get about Obama...

And yes, my first choice is Kucinich. He addresses problems like a grown-up and his solutions are for the people.

I'm voting for Obama just to let you know, but he will be like Clinton - another great republican president. He will do A LOT of good but it will always be pointed towards corporations and not citizens...

10. Sorry you feel that way. Obama is left of Clinton, very much so....

If you haven't been able to see that by now, then there's really nothing else I can say to you.

Good luck, and thanks for your vote.

You'll be pleasantly surprised by his presidency.

12. Just to make sure you understand me...
I like Obama - I think he is a good person. And I will vote for him.

Our country is on the total brink of destruction on all fronts - we need drastic solution to fix these problems and he is not 'saying' these direct solutions.

And it is a cop out to not 'help me to understand' what you are thinking - it may allow me to see things differently and you choose silence.

15. "drastic solutions" never see the light of day in congress.... he has to play to the middle a LITTLE
..in order to accomplish anything.

The bailout gives him a chance to take over a solvent nation on January 20th.

If we're plunging into depression before he even takes office, there's not much he'll be able to accomplish.

16. The bailout has NOTHING to do with the stock market....

The stock market conniptions are just a symptom.

The bailout is about the credit freeze.
