He's NOT a "fighter pilot"..

The majority of his time in uniform , he dropped bombs on villagers, was a prisoner, and then a desk-jockey..he got where he was because of whom his Daddy was..(remind you of anyone?)..

He's NOT a "maverick"..

Cantankerous, hot-tempered, egotistical, maybe..but "maverick"..nope.. Voting against your own party (so YOU can call yourself a maverick), when there is no "personal harm" because the bill is sure to pass WITHOUT your vote, only pisses off your fellow party members and does little to endear you to the "other" party.. It makes you disloyal and impudent , and shows how spotlight-crazy you are.

He's NOT a "patriot"..

Being shot down, and imprisoned does not make you a patriot.. it makes you a POW.. "refusing" to be released does NOT make you a patriot.. It DOES make you a man who's afraid of his Daddy, so much so, that he refused to be released, for fear of the shame it would bring the family.

No one can convince me that he had a patriotic epiphany while being held.. he has said many times that he did not even MEET many of his fellow prisoners, because most of them were kept in solitary..

Would it even be rational to turn down release, because of some anonymous "tap-tap-tapping" on the shared wall?.. He was NOT the ONLY person who spent time as a POW..he did what any human would do.. he tried to and did survive.

He also admitted that he made tapes and did give information, to prevent further torture, so the added shame of getting out early, was probably more than even he could accept..being who he was..and whom his daddy was.. You cannot live that down.. (ask Jane Fonda)

He HAS NO "family values"

He "has" no church. He had to "shop" for televangelists to even come up with a LITTLE religious cred, and we all know how well that turned out.. He's a cad, when it comes to women. He cheated on his faithful wife because she turned out to not be so "beautiful" after her near-fatal accident. He bailed on her and his 3 children, because a rich young woman took a shine to him.

He extorted silence from his abandoned family in exchange for a promise of life-long medical care for his ex-wife. Apparently he and his momma even SUED the first wife to re-claim things given to her during their marriage..things that would have eventually gone to his own children.

His 2nd marriage cannot be all that "close" either, since he apparently spends very little time where they actually LIVE, and Ms Rodeo-Queen never even consulted him when she took it upon herself to adopt a child.

He's NOT "independent" (in any sense of the word)..

He berates Obama for having voted "present", but HE has missed more votes completely, than almost anyone in the senate..That's not being independent..that's "playing it safe" on close votes, or totally ignoring votes he doesn't care about at all.

He was born into the military, went to college(free) via the military, and then spent most of his adult life on the military payroll..WITH full medical benefits paid by US Taxpayers.

He "graduated" into the House and then the Senate (again on the US Taxpayers' dime). The man has spent all or most of his 72 years on the planet, being tended-to by Uncle Sam and Princess Rodeo-Queen.(not MY idea of independence)

He's NOT an honorable human being

He votes, time and again, against bills that would improve the lives of military families, and poor people, and sick people. He brags about NOT taking earmarks for Arizona, but oddly, that's kind of what elected legislators are "supposed" to do, when people of a district or state elect them to office. They are supposed to be judicious when trying to help their home-state people, but they all should try to see to it that their own state does not get the short shrift, and yet go back to them time after time, to ask for their votes again. There are many many poor people in Arizona who have been cheated out of programs that he CALLED pork, but actually were NOT. He's been quick to call EVERYTHING the government does, "pork", unless it's rewriting some obscure language into a bill that enriches his friends.. He's in favor of "secret crony-pork", but not "public-pork", like roads, schools, health care for children, infrastructure, etc.
