OMG, the Cons were practically begging people to go see An American Carol....out of "patriotic duty"
Rick Perlstein posted this at OurFuture.org. It's a plea from some conservative group to go see it so that they can "win" the culture war. {Everything's a war with these people).

Anyway, here's Perlstein's intro, then a link to the rather pathetic plea:

Aesthetic Affirmative Action
By Rick Perlstein

October 4th, 2008 - 10:09pm ET

The reviews are in: American Carol, the conservative "comedy" about the liberal plot to ban the Fourth of July, is the worst film in the history of celluloid.

But according to our conservative friends, you've no less than a duty to see it anyway, because we've got a culture war to win, dammit!

1. I saw one ad on TV and was able to deduce that it was a piece of crap.

3. Apparently Wall Street isn't the only fiasco that needs bailing out.

This dud is going down as one of the biggest turkeys
of all time. It stinks up every theatre it plays in.
The backers are losing their shirts.

4. To these people, anti-Republican = anti-American
it's a disgusting tactic, trying to equate their party, candidates, and beliefs with America itself

5. I love how they put comedy in quotation marks, then try to convince people to go see it.

6. Quite a big cast
Check them out:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190617/fullcredits#cast

Keep in mind that some of them needed work (Kevin Sorbo) and some owed Zucker a favor or two (Nielson). And Kaleigh Kennedy is about all of six years old.

Then there's Paris Hilton ... hmmm ...

But they couldn't get Shannon Doherty, Mary Lynn Rajskub, or Ricky Martin -- but Rajskub and Martin may no longer be Republicans. I think that's going to become a lot more common.

7. Good lord. "If you love America...
support her men and women in uniform...." Un-freaking-believable.
"And laugh like your country depends on it." WTF? Isn't that the equivalent of someone shooting at your feet and yelling, "Dance, sucker, dance!"?

9. Everything is indeed a "war" with these people
Except, of course, actual war. When was the first, last or any time in between you heard Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly or any of the other snakes exhort their listeners to join the military? They sure like having their picture taken with guys in uniform, but they never, ever tell their listeners to sign the contract and go fight for the very existence of America. Curious, isn't it?
