Police: Mom stabs 2 daughters to death, kills self
A woman was shot to death and her two school-age daughters fatally stabbed Monday in an apparent murder-suicide, officials said.

A family member stopping by the house found the scene just before 7:30 p.m. EDT and called police, Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said.

Smiley said investigators believe the woman killed her daughters then shot herself.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bob Jones identified the mother as Hope Orwick, 35, who he said died of a gunshot wound to the head. The girls were 9-year-old Emily Orwick and 8-year-old Lindsey Orwick, Jones said.

He said both girls died of stab wounds but could not say how many times they were stabbed pending an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.

How common will this become? I shudder to think...

1. Why can't these fucks just kill themselves first...
and leave everyone else out of their private hell.

2. In their despair they don't believe that there are any family
or any social network who will take care of their relatives.

6. So? Doesn't make her any less of a horrific nut
Parental suicide is awful, but murdering your own children for any reason is unbelievable.

3. Why would she do this? She was living in the greatest country in the history of the world.
Apparently she failed to realize that. She wasn't "proud to be an american".

4. Sad. If she'd lived in Nebraska she could've dropped the kids
at the hospital before she offed herself.

5. If she lived in Nebraska, could she afford the gas for the trip to the hospital?

7. Couldn't she have done that in any state?
What is the SOP for that situation anyway? Is there a coherent one, or does it vary by location and institution?
