4. That downward trend line looks like a free fall that could hit -700 to -750 points
...or lower by the end of the trading day.

U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke cautioned that downside risks to economic growth "have worsened in the United States" in his statements today, so the markets have to react negatively to that kind of news.

Hang onto your hat, if you still have one. My prediction is for it to go all the way down to 7500 before this is over.

I wonder what they're doing in the White House right now - every time Bush gets near a newspaper or TV the words EPIC FAIL probably start flashing in front of his eyes.

13. You can also see the pattern selling that is controlling the fall trying to keep
...the markets from going into a sudden "plunge" which would bring about an outright "panic" sell-off.

We just might witness such patterns in the coming days. I wonder what Dubya would have to say about that? :yoiks:

25. Well Duhbya has an MBA
So presumably, if a Harvard education is worth anything at all, he would have some perspicacious insight into the whole thing. I wonder why he's hiding out in the Oval Office when the nation could use his expertise right about now? You'd think all his supporters and cheerleaders in the popular media, who swooned so breathily over his flight suit stunt job back in 2003, would be out there demanding to hear from the Man Himself.

12. It seems the only way you could make money on the Dow nowadays is to short everything under the sun.
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 02:37 PM by Selatius
Because going long isn't gonna reap results until years, possibly over a decade later. The only way you'd make money going long is if you bought at the end of the session believing tomorrow will be a bounce back and then sell when the Dow starts falling again. Of course, from an average person's perspective, buying shares in a company and then selling it a day later doesn't seem "long" term, but that's how they describe it.

It's slowly slinking downwards in a depressing way. Yesterday there was a huge rally once it seemed to have hit bottom, but today that energy is missing.

There will probably be a good day or two in the coming week, but it sure looks bad right now.
