Boy am I Glad I invested my retirement in Old Comic books instead of the stock
market...

Jeez. People are really gonna suffer...

Seriously, this is bad news for the future. They told every one to invest their retirement in the market, that it was the responsible thing to do with your future. Nothing could go wrong...

This is just terrible. I feel so bad for people who are watching as there nest egg tumbles into oblivion. People are going to be working way into their seventies. Which, BTW, will ease the demand on SS but play havoc on the jobs market.

Thank god I took my MIL out of the stock market ten years ago and put her money in secure bonds. Boring but the money is still there...

2. I don't have much, but all of my Roth IRA is now in Treasury bonds.
My 401k is also in secure bonds. Not making money, but not losing my shirt either.

3. Can I hire you as my financial advisor?
As of today, my 401(k) has lost 32 percent of its value since the beginning of the year. Thank goodness I have 15 years until retirement to earn it back. Otherwise, Right now, it looks as though it may be more than 15 years until I can retire.

anyone who was advised to put their entire nest egg in the stock market and is 55+, whether risk-averse or not, probably has grounds for a lawsuit.

If they didn't get advice, they should have.

7. These so-called investment guru's were just being swept along
by their own hubris. Hell, a monkey could randomly pick stocks during the early part of the century and do as well as most fund managers...

It's like I said yesterday about CEO's getting rewarded for essentialy not fucking things up too bad...

In go go times, it's easy to win, easy to manage. The real test comes now, when things are bleak.

8. There is a WSJ column called Experts vs. Darts
which compares performance of stock "gurus" picks against a random fling at a page pinned to a dartboard.

Last time I checked, darts were up substantially for a 2-yr time horizon.

9. on a serious note, will the comics sell any time in the near future?
my dad has 10s of thousands, every era and lots of figurines. It's daunting to think about how to liquidate those. He's been talking about it for a while.
