Stereotypical Welfare Family
In 1972, my wife and I witnessed a stereotypical welfare family, he in sharkskin, her in furs, 10 kids, buying steaks and lobster in our local store. They left in a brand new Cadillac. I noted the plates, and checked them in our companies list of auto registries (purchased every year) The car belonged to the local Republican election committee.

from a story on voter supression (?)

But it made me laugh (mostly because its true).

1. ????? I agree with you if you are saying this is a strange reply to a
story on voter suppression. What's the purpose of this? I'm not trying to be snarky, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

2. I found the comment funny, but the context strange
So we are in agreement: It makes no sense to me either.
