Second question into tonights townhall debate - McCain enlightens us on his brilliant strategy to shore up the economy is...

...to allow the Treasury Secretary to buy up actual troubled mortgages (Not MBS's or some other basket of securitized mortgage instruments) and then to change the loan (original principle) so that it is more in line with current (read: lower) home prices.

ARE---------------YOU---------------SERIOUS---------------MCCAIN?!

This is wrong on so many levels, but the six most troubling questions/concerns that pop in my mind are:

1) The U.S. Government will be buying what they admit will be inflated homes directly from stressed mortgage holders.

2) What effect will this have on the 92% of mortgage holders who are paying on time? - even while the value of their homes are falling off a cliff and they are becoming more upside down as each month passes.

3) In which markets will you buy these troubled mortgages?

4) Who will determine what the price of the home should be?

5) Who will eat the losses between what is owed on the current mortgage balance and the new and improved number arrived by Dictator Paulson and his successor?

6) If a contract is a legal agreement between at least two parties enforceable in a Court of Law - how will this precedent affect all other contracts?

Gee - McCain, do you think you might encourage a fairly large percentage of homeowners to default??

Moron.

McCain and his new pitbull, Sarah Palin, had a golden "maverick" opportunity laid out on a golden "maverick" platter to oppose the horrible bailout plan and sit on the side of 99% of the constituent calls/letters/faxes/emails that poured into Congress and yet he chose to fold an unbeatable hand which would have polarized him vs. with his opponent, Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, Gay Barney and a very unpopular and un-Conservative President Bush

I bet Sarah Palin, in private company, opposed the hell out of that ridiculous bailout debacle. She would have been the perfect person to fire up his base, AND convert lots of pissed off Independants and democrats to McCains side.

Game. Set. Match. President Obama.

you are right...but what do you expect from a frickin RINO?

Both aren’t answering the questions proposed to them and Tom BrokeJaw has no balls to shut either of them up.

Unfortunately...I walked out of the T.V. room right after McCain said that........
Throughly disgusted..........

But not so disgusted that I won't vote for the RINO.

Because I believe Obama a much, much greater threat.

You read and digested my entire post and then replied in 1 minute from when I posted?

Hey Bushbot- I have an idea.

Read the transcript of McCains answer that I reference. Then re-read my post on it. McCain is clueless and he lost his opportunity and now wants to The U.S. Gov't to BUY ACTUAL MORTGAGES!!!!!

This is SOCIALISM!

Yeah, I caught that too.
The communist b@stard is going to take my money away from me in order for his voters to get their insurance bills paid.

Totally absurd.

Note that Obama has now stolen the debate floor to rant about his mother dying from cancer.

Obama is insinuating that I should have to pay for his momma's problems.

Communist Re-Distribution of Wealth Bullsh!t!!!!!!!

He has time to turn things around but there are no big punches from him yet tonight. He needs a win and not a draw and this is a weak performance so far. Obama has given him more than enough ammo and he refuses to take advantage.

3. This is scaring me...I actually agree with that
first freeper - when McCain started talking about the mortgage re-valuation thing, I looked at my husband and said, "So if we quit making our mortgage payments we could get $30k knocked off of our principle? That's the dumbest plan I've ever heard!"
