"Wall Street cheers rate cut".

(edited for spelling... it's early)

2. I don't think this is anything to be exuberant (irrationally or otherwise) about.
A market crash is gonna hurt a lot of working people and retirees.

3. Not being exuberant....
Just noting the ironic contradiction on the page at that moment.

I know people are hurting. Wasn't my intent to insult.

7. I thought perhaps not, but your post was pretty ambiguoous.
I am no doubt oversensitive, but I wouldn't want newbie eyeballs to draw the conclusion that anybody here is taking pleasure in observing this trainwreck. We're all on the train.

6. If this doesn't work...and it's looking like it might not...
...what's next?

In other words, can anyone stop this downbound train at this point?

I've accepted the fact that my 401k is gone. I still have about 20 years of working life left (probably more than that, since I doubt I'll be able to "retire" in the ordinary connotation of the word) but I do freelance work now, which supplements my small income nicely. I could now lose that because I'm sure that will be the first to go if the company I work for is having credit problems.

Now for a little pity party, if you'll allow: Damn...I am so SICK of feeling totally helpless when it comes to my life. I work hard, I play by the rules, I do what I'm told, and I still get fucked through no fault of my own. My only consolation is that I know I'm not alone here. But it's precious little consolation at that.
