Time for some ACTION! Prop 8 is Passing!
Two polls show California's Prop 8 that reverses the California Supreme court decision on Gay Marriage is passing! The yes on Prop * campaign has also outraised NO by $10 Million!!

"Earlier polls had shown Proposition 8, which would eradicate the right for same-sex couples to marry in California, trailing by about 5 percentage points. This week, a Lake Research poll paid for by the campaign of 1,051 likely voters showed the proposition winning, with 47 percent saying they supported the measure and 43 percent saying no. The polling period was Sept. 29-Oct. 2. That finding is reinforced by a SurveyUSA poll of 670 likely voters showing the proposition winning 47 percent to 42 percent. That poll was taken Saturday and Sunday.

Survey USA said its poll indicated support in the Inland Empire and Central Valley areas of California for denying same-sex marriage rights, opposition in the Bay Area, and a split in Southern California."

So please, anyone that lives in California donate if you can and tell people to vote NO on Prop 8

3. I met some guys working for the No on 8 campaign while over at
In-and-Out for lunch today. I gave them a couple dollars and got a bumper sticker and some flyers. I told them I don't understand how that thing could pass - I don't know a soul who would vote for it. I even have at least one same-sex client couple that I know of who got married (yay for them!).

4. Wouldn't this mean that it would be illegal to sign into law.. The court
decides if something is constitutional or not.. This law would be unconstitutional.. The reason Sarah decided not to sign the Alaska prop into law.. because it was unconstitutional.. Not sure if Arnold is that smart or not.. I would assume this issue is heading straight to the Supreme Court in a couple of years.

6. Signing Prop 8 into law might be the kick it needs to get in front of the Supreme Court
This is one more reason to elect Obama. We need someone to appoint Liberal Supreme Court Justices to move the court back on our side where it belongs.

5. This is why Obama needs to support same sex marraige
With his support, all the Obama voters in CA would come around. With Obama choosing
to leave these couples as lower class citizens, it sets a bad precedent.

7. The Yes ads are running all over the radio, even on AAR
I just heard an ad on Thom Hartmann's show. Whoever is running these ads seems to have a ton of money. The ad that I heard made the argument that if Prop 8 is defeated, it will mean that soon polygamous marriage will be legal. That was the sum and substance of the ad, a scare tactic that the very fabric of society would be undone unless Prop 8 passes.

8. Goddamn corporate radio
Some people who hear these ads on "liberal" talk radio stations will assume that the station endorses it, when the reality is probably more the case of a radio corporation (i.e. Clear Channel) selling air time to advertisers for the entire market. So the same ad runs on every station they own in that market, regardless of format.

10. Those fucking ads are effective
A friend of mine who lives in Ventura County saw the Gavin Newsom ad and thought he was for Prop 8. She even said he was a piece of work! I told her he's been a proponent of getting equal rights. I know she'll be voting no, but those people are deceptive.

I don't have much money at the moment, but I'm going to donate right now!

11. I just donated
This one really pisses me off, and the Yes on 8 people certainly are well-funded.

I saw a Yes on 8 sign driving back from my son's school today, and it got me going. I emailed all of my California friends and family to please contribute time and/or money.

We need high voter turnout in CA to get this one defeated. It may help that McCain voters aren't likely to be very motivated to go to the polls on election day.

14. I ordered some No On 8 swag yesterday
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=141x31621

I realize they don't get as much $ from that as from a straight donation, but I figure flying the signage will offset that.

Besides, I want to piss off my assbucket neighbors. :grr:
