know what pisses me off MOST about the economy?
is that my wife and I have just now finally gotten around to getting our financial lives in order. good jobs, starting to save, able to afford things we've always wanted, within means, of course, and it all seems to be coming to fruition amidst the decline and fall of the entire framework within which we had such aspirations. call me naive for every buying into it in the first place, or short-sighted, or not cynical or wise enough to see that the entire thing was a house-of-cards farce -- it's just damned frustrating.

as on DUer said recently, Obama can't get elected soon enough. (not that I think he's going to be able to turn the tides of this mess, but I do think he is going to bring about a wholesale mood-change in the country, and not soon enough)

1. don't be concerned with that if your house is in order
even during the depression, people were fine if they had jobs, no debt etc. It's people that lost their jobs or were in debt that had problems. Alot of fortunes were built on the misery of others during the 30's

2. Do not be discouraged
If you are young (not within 5 years of retirement) stocks are on sale big time.

3. My main hope for Obama is that he won't make it worse
and I know any GOP will make it much, much worse.

Unfortunately, Obama is a pro business Democrat with a campaign full of Wall Street Democrats and I don't expect to see the radical changes this country really needs.

I don't see a continuation of the wrecking ball destruction the GOP has done over the past eight miserable years, though, and that is a great improvement.
