McCain beside himself with joy, two Joes in his life, Lieberman & "Plumber"

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – Senator John McCain held his first post-debate rally here Thursday with his friend Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, but most of his remarks, somewhat predictably, centered on another Joe.

“My friends, we had a good debate last night,’’ Mr. McCain said to cheers at a sports center. “It was a lot of fun. I thought I did pretty well. The real winner last night was Joe the Plumber.”

Some in the crowd chanted “Joe! Joe! Joe!”

“Joe’s the man!” Mr. McCain cried.

And so, with the economy collapsing and two wars raging overseas, the campaign debate centered on an Ohio plumber.
