***DUers, If you vote on a touchscreen voting machine, BRING A CAMERA!***
http://www.wvgazette.com/News/200810170676

Given the events in West Virginia where votes are flipping from Obama to McCain, all voters who use DRE touchscreen voting machines MUST bring either a camera or a cell phone with a camera TO PROTECT YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!

Be sure to photograph the touchscreen machine if it flips your vote from Obama to McCain, so we have EVIDENCE of vote-stealing!

2. Its possible that some people are just too dumb to use touch screens
When I used to work at the theatre we had touch screen ticket booths. Most people didnt have any problems with them but theres was always someone who just couldnt work the touch screen. I would touch the screen right in front of them but when they tried it they just didnt know what the hell they were doing.

They better make sure the machines are working correctly but there could be nothing wrong at all. Just sayin.

19. Not that many people. These are made by the same folks that make your bank's ATM!
What has been happening for the last 8 years is no accident. These are not "glitches"--these are deliberate artifacts of the computer codes.

After reading about the crap that's going on in WVA I've already decided to put my camera in my purse.

33. Of someone attempting to vote for Obama and the screen jumping to McCain!
You would have evidence right then and there that this actually happened. It would lend credence to the possibility of voter fraud, or at least require a re-vote if there was some sort of "malfunction" which occurred...

5. I'm not sure we're allowed to do that in Georgia.
There were signs everywhere about cell phones and cameras being impermissible to use in the voting area, IIRC. If my machine had done that, I definitely would've called the poll workers over, and I would've asked if I could video it.

12. Not of an election protection outfit, no.
I've already voted, and the machine appeared to be working properly. Unfortunately, with these piece of shit Windows CE and Microsoft Access toys, there's no way to be sure.

If something had gone wrong when I voted, I would've made a ton of calls to media outlets, local government, state government, and a really good consumer advocate we have here in the state.

Why do you ask?

16. Good deal. Thanks.
I think one of the biggest things to worry about now in Georgia is all the new voters being disenfranchised. If people will just go ahead and vote early, they'll know well in advance if there are issues. I'm encouraging everyone I know to vote early.

I initially was worried that voting early would make it easier to steal votes, but if they're gonna do that, they can do it anytime they like. Voting early makes sure that those who've got registration issues can get them straightened out before election day. It also avoids those situations on election day where some areas -- Democratic ones, naturally -- don't have enough machines or have flaky machines that keep crashing, thereby resulting in crazy long lines.

If we can squeak through this election and score Dem wins for White House and huge ones for Congress, we can push through some major reform and kick these ridiculous toy machines to the curb.

10. The reason they don't allow cameras in
is so that people won't be scared to go in and vote. It's a disenfranchise technique that was used back in Jim Crow: take photos of blacks going in to vote so you can identify them and terrorize or kill them later. I know WE liberals would only use our cameras for good, but the far right conservative haters have no shame, morals, or conscience.

because Republicans don't want us to be able to vote. Sick....

Sorry... but you are not allowed to have proof of how you voted. Republicans say so, so they can flip your vote to help their candidate.

Clint Curtis hired to create a program to do just that.

40. What exactly do you want?
Nobody to ever mention any form of technology, ever, because some people don't have eight bucks to buy a disposable camera? It's unfortunate, but us merely *possessing* these things and suggesting people use them is *not* intended as some kind of gross insult to the people who don't.

You seriously are not even slightly acquainted with *anyone* who owns any kind of camera?

Instead of forming all things in terms of DEMANDS, REMEMBER that not everybody has your resources.

That used to be how DEMS acted..... when they actually cared about poor folk.

Your disssing tone isn't garnering votes, you know.

edited to answer your snark... Do you HONESTLY not know any poor people?

How much do YOU extend yourself to help others?

Or do you just get your jollies from judging from your pedastal?

Then you wonder why the term "elitist" gets some traction...

42. You're the one who started with the snark.
You saw a post daring to suggest that people bring a common and easily-obtained piece of modern technology with them to the polls to document possible vote stealing. You then chose to read a personal insult into that and imply that we camera-owning people don't want you to vote at all and that you're not "welcome at our table". I made a serious, non-snarky suggestion to borrow a camera. You then got all huffy and called the suggestion "useless advice". Perhaps that's because an honest attempt at some sort of solution to your problem wasn't what you wanted to hear?

What did you want to hear?

LIght is dark.

Up is down.

Keep dissing poor folk and ignoring us, and then complain when you don't get all the votes you think you're entitled to.

You asked a question, and I replied.

Keep up the righteous indignation.

It's getting you far.

Please don't.

If you have trouble voting, make sure everyone knows about it. Call your Secretary of State. Call the local media. Report it to election protection advocacy groups. Call your local Democratic Party headquarters.

I don't think you'll be able to bring in a camera. You can't do that in Georgia, I'm pretty sure.

But if you ever do need a camera to document abuse, there are a couple of cheap solutions. You can get a disposable camera from any discount store or drugstore for $8 or thereabouts. Also, you can get a prepaid cellular phone with a camera from Tracfone for $19.99. There are no credit checks or anything for those phones. You just pay as you go.

Of course, I don't even have the money left to eat the rest of this month, but that's not really of vital importance, is it?

I'm really asking all of you to THINK.... some of us AREN'T in your shoes... could you please try to imagine being in ours????

Why do I sometimes have a harder time getting this reality through to "progressives" than I do to "conservatives"?

...but the silent, software driven, switching of votes is not likely to be displayed on the screen -- there's no reason to believe the rogue theft software would be written that way, in fact, it would be quite an astonishing blunder on their part to do so.
