1. Whoa! Not what I expected...
I wish he would have asked the guy the last woman referred to.....the one running the show.

Very interesting question...one I certainly never even thought about.

doctors who perform illegal abortions, they would all have an answer.

That last woman crossing herself was really creepy - like she'd had contact with something evil and needed to be cleansed/blessed.

12. I thought I saw her do a sign of the cross
I thought I saw her touch her head and her heart - I'd have to watch it again to see if she did the shoulders too but I don't think I can stomach it.

13. She made the sign of the cross, then went back to saying her rosary,
She was probably praying for the soul of the man who was asking her the questions.

16. You're right
It probably wasn't so much the religious version of cootie spray as I first thought ... either way it felt creepy to me.

21. Funny but omits 50% of the religious
population (maybe even more) - no testicles and don't carry a wallet or a comb in jacket pockets.

4. How TYPICAL
of people who want to run others' lives. They NEVER think things through.

My standard response to people who tell me they oppose abortion is to tell them that if they don't believe in abortion then don't have one. Period.

Make it illegal, but don't assign a penalty of any kind? I had no idea these folks were THAT illogical.

11. Death, of course.
The GOP push their agenda by degrees. They won't come right out and say non-believers should be killed in accordance with their interpretation of a book written almost 2 centuries ago by a tribe of nomadic shepherds, but it's what they want.

Take a look at what they're doing with energy.

First they wanted to drill for oil off-shore, so they pushed and pushed, and when it looked like it was nearly a reality, they start pushing the next layer of their energy agenda: nuclear. The GOP are masters of the idea of "moving the goal posts." I don't know what the end-result will be--maybe privatizing water--but they're using a wedge to shove their agenda down America's throat.

Now as far as the abortion issue goes, they want a theocracy, there's no question about that. Take a look at the candidates they push, the judges they nominate and confirm and the advisors with the most power: Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, John Roberts, Ralph Reed, James Dobson, Rupert Murdoch and Reverend Moon.

So, the GOP will only say they want abortion criminalized, but I'm certain they won't be satisfied with just one law change.

They won't be satisfied until America is a theocracy to rival Saudi Arabia.

Death can't be mentioned, yet.

14. This is a very powerful question and the reactions are telling.
But these are the same people that hung Obama in effigy in Ohio. As soon as someone gives them a talking point / direction, they'll back that. They aren't really connected to real people but to ideology.

15. This has always been "The Answer"
Our local candidate got it into a commercial last cycle, but I don't know why it hasn't caught on more.

From when it http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=898055">came up last year:

This simple reality is The Key to winning the abortion argument

Like many of us, I've talked to far too many abortion opponents who simply (casually?) attach their "outlaw it" position as a tenet of their religion, thereby rendering themselves immune to rational discussion. They believe what they believe.

The one thing that can be said that stops nearly all of them in their tracks (and yes, you can see it in their faces) is:

"No one likes or promotes abortions. The only difference is that your side wants to put frightened women and their doctors IN JAIL and our side does not."

I find it best just to leave it at that. It changes minds. Not all, perhaps not even most, but a surprising number.

And the fact that many of them openly said "They hadn't thought about that" gives me hope that some of them WILL.

22. Kicked! Wow, lots of heads exploding over the concept.
WTF, you want to make something "illegal" but don't think there should be a punishment?

Why don't they just admit they really only want people to "believe" the same as them?
