Obama Campaign wants you to report any robo-calls or hate mail you receive!
I just got this letter from the Obama Campaign in my email:

"Voters in key battleground states are receiving automated phone calls from John McCain's campaign that are spreading some of the most vile smears of this election.

But these "robocalls" -- and the hate-filled mailers that usually accompany them -- say more about John McCain than they do about Barack.

After all, McCain himself denounced these underhanded and cowardly tactics as "hate calls" after a rash of them sunk his primary campaign in 2000. The perpetrator behind that slimy attack: George W. Bush. Now, not only has John McCain embraced these sleazy tactics, he's hired the same firm that Bush used against him to orchestrate them.

Your voice is the most powerful tool to help fight back against this tide of lies and spread the truth.

If you or your family and friends have received one of these sleazy calls or mailings, help us keep track of them by reporting it.

It's clear John McCain would rather lose his honor than lose this election.

While there's nothing new about these scare tactics, McCain has signaled he'll stoop to any level to win.

There's too much at stake to let the politics of the past derail this campaign. And with just 17 days to go before Election Day, the need to take a stand couldn't be greater.

Reports from folks like you are the only way the full extent of these hateful calls and mailers will ever be known by voters across the country.

Expose John McCain's slimy tactics -- forward this email to everyone you know and make sure McCain's "hate call" tactics get reported:

http://www.fightthesmears.com/report

Together, we'll turn the page on McCain's low road tactics.

Keep fighting the good fight,

Obama Action Wire"

1. I got a GOP robo-survey today - they asked me whether I would vote for Obama
or McCain and whether my mind could be changed. They asked about lots of other races up and down the ballot and at the end they asked which issues I cared most about -- Iraq, the economy, family values.

I guessed it was GOP at the outset, because I associate GOP with robocalls. When they listed the issues at the end and allowed me to pick which was most important to me it was definitely a GOP list -- it did not include environment or climate crisis.

In any case, I did what I could to mess with their minds -- I said I was voting Obama, but my mind could be changed and for all of the rest of the races I said I was undecided. I was making selections based on what I thought might keep the call going longest and might make it more likely I would be called again -- sort of testing whether they are robo-calling in Indiana. I assume that they are...

Perhaps I should've said I was voting for Obama and my mind could not be changed? Would that have been more likely to release the barrage of hate-speech on these calls?

:(

There have been several threads in GDP about these calls and hate-filled mailers that DUers have been getting. Give me a few and I'll go find them and add some links below.

4. Re-I got a GOP robo-survey today
I would of thought they would of spewed the hate for sure. They didn't though? Must be a script they are using and trying to decide to stay in your state or not. I imagine the McCain funds are running a bit low by now. Robocalls are one of the cheapest and ineffective ways to advertise. But then again.. I think ineffective pretty much describes the whole McCain campaign.

disinformation. I sent them back and told them to remove our names from their mailing list.

15. I was canvassing in NH today . . .
One woman who was listed as Unenrolled/Independent said she hadn't known who she would vote for, but was now probably voting for Obama. She had received a McCain robo-call about Obama associating with "terrorists." As she put it, "My kids heard that. It scared them. They remember 9-11. The McCain people brought that into my house. I don't want it in my house."

18. These Calls Will Be The Real End Of Camp Gramps
Each election cycle it shows that more and more people get negative reactions of robo-calls...backlashing on the person who does the calling. Besides being a nusiance, our phone habits have changed, we now live in the age of the "Do Not Call List" thus many people find these calls intimidating rather than "informational".

Camp Gramps game here is to try to nullify people...get them pissed enough to stay at home, but the game is not gonna be that easy this time. The robo-calls have already become a major news story and as they increase, you'll see a reaction that Camp Gramps wasn't hoping for. Besides driving possible Obama voters to stay home, they're hurting their own candidates...a reason why Susan Collins asked to have them pulled down in Maine. I suspect other candidates in close races will call for the same thing.
