Rick Davis: Campaign Rethinking Playing The Rev. Wright Card
October 20, 2008 02:14 PM

McCain's campaign manager says he is reconsidering using Barack Obama's relationship with Reverend Jeremiah Wright as a campaign issue during the election's closing weeks.

In an appearance on conservative Hugh Hewitt's radio program, Davis said that circumstances had changed since John McCain initially and unilaterally took Obama's former pastor off the table. The Arizona Republican, Davis argued, had been jilted by the remarks of Rep. John Lewis, who compared recent GOP crowds to segregationist George Wallace's rallies. And, as such, the campaign was going to "rethink" what was in and out of political bounds.

2. Everything they've used so far hasn't worked. Don't you think
people will see that this as just another thing to throw against the wall?

3. I don't fish
But if I had to imagine it, this is what a founder flopping around on a deck gasping for air in its death-throes would look like.

7. let them do just that, It seems the American people
would rather hear about how they're gonna pay for heating oil, buy groceries, afford college tuition and get healthcare more than they want to hear some old geezer talking about a black preacher.

Maybe they should play the entire speech, you know, where he says "gaddamm america for allowing slavery, gaddam america for allowing all these deaths in its' name". ( that is not an exact quote, but it is the essence)

Peace

8. Nothing MCRacist will do is going to work
They have thrown everything they can at Obama and it doesn't stick. He should just throw in the towel, pack his bags and go home. It's over for that old man.

9. okay, I see your Rev. Wright and raise you a voodoo priest and Hagee
one for Palin - one for McCain. Let's see Joe Lieberman go on tv and defend a guy who said Jews were being punished for not being christian. please. I'd really like to see Lieberman defend this claim, since he's already said it's just fine to go after Obama b/c of Ayers.

So, what about it, Joe? Is it okay for your political pals to say Jews are going to hell because they're not talibornagains?

12. Too funny. So they don't like John Lewis' remarks so they will use Wright. This will not be new to
anybody. EVERYBODY will see it as desperation.
