I'll make a long story short: A guy who ended up as a colonel got another colonel to fake a paternity test for him so that he could save his marriage and avoid making child support payments to the former Army specialist he impregnated. The Army Times has this as their cover story. Here's an excerpt:
After repeated requests from Carlson, Adkins said he agreed to take the paternity test, according to the interview.
"I ... got a ... {paternity} test for him because he thought he had impregnated another woman," Adkins told investigators.
"He said, 'You know, I just can't have my marriage destroyed.'
"He said that he's 98 percent sure
, but it's better to be 100 ," Adkins said, according to the interview.
Adkins said he later realized it was a mistake, but that he felt a sense of loyalty to Carlson.
"I came from Washington, D.C., and I didn't make colonel by being disloyal to people," he said.Read that sentence in bold again. Boot-licking, anyone? Aside from how disgraceful this episode is for the Army officer corps, I mean, what a fucking lackey, right? Apparently Mr. "I-didn't-make-colonel-by-being-disloyal" guy missed the entire fucking point of 20 year's worth of leadership training. I'm sorry, but to me, the attitude in that guy's statement is far worse than the simple act of showing up to fake a paternity test for his buddy.
It's a sign that this guy has been leading soldiers the wrong way and damaging the force with his backward view on things for two decades. He honestly thought he was doing the right thing when he went to fake the test. I can only imagine how many thousands of soldiers this guy has led poorly over his career. What an embarrassment
