Poll question: The Palin clothing "issue."
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 02:53 PM by ColbertWatcher
Just got back from the doctor and I see Miss Teen South Carolina was on The View (isn't she leaving for a job on FOX?) and apparently she introduced Caribou Barbie at some function and then the whole lot of them squawked about Palin's clothes.

Miss Teen South Carolina-beck insistently repeated the GOP talking point about charity or something.

Naturally, repeating the GOP talking points makes her completely wrong. And yet, these she was bleating on and on about the clothes while saying everyone else should stop talking about them and why isn't anyone talking about how she'll donate the clothes, which is the real issue.

But, what is the real issue when it comes to Palin's clothes?

BTW, here is a picture from a thread showing pictures from a protest in Asheville, North Carolina (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7619233&mesg_id=7619233)

1. I have not spent $150,000 on clothing in total during my entire life - I'm 61

2. I think this issue is every bit as important as . . .
Al Gore allegedly wearing earth tones.
Al Gore audibly sighing.
John Kerry windsurfing.
Bill Clinton's alleged runway haircut.
Jon Edwards' $400 haircut.
Howard Dean's "scream."
Jeremiah Wright.
William Ayers.

And I demand to see the saturation, wall-to-wall coverage of this issue just like I saw on all those vitally important issues that sucked every last bit of oxygen out of newsrooms across America in their time. After all, nobody wants Sarah Palin to get preferential treatment just because of her sex, do they? Because that would be sexist, you know.

I agree, it would be sexist.

We need to be fair.

6. Hypocrisy
If I was a Republican, I would care about the money wasted to buy her new clothes. I would want that money spent on getting my party's candidates elected.

As a Democrat, I am bothered by the hypocrisy. She claims that she is "hockey mom" but has this extremely expensive wardrobe. It is also worth noting that the Republicans showed no mercy to Edwards when they ridiculed his haircut.

7. It's the HYPOCRISY.

They go after Teresa Heinze Kerry for her "elitism" while remaining silent on mcINSANE's wife.

They go after Obama's supposed "elitism" while spending 150 thou on CLOTHES that she either intends to GIVE BACK to the original store (YUCK) or "give to charity" (like the evening gown will be REALLY useful to a homeless person - with all the "homeless balls" they have to turn down because of "nothing to wear")

Let alone the possible ILLEGALITY of spending POLITCAL CONTRIBUTIONS for PERSONAL GAIN...

I wonder how soon it will be before they complain about Michelles Innaugural Gown(s)...

8. If they returned 1/3 of the clothing, who got the refund?
Did it go to the RNC or to the campaign?

1. Clothes purchased by Jeff Larson

2. Larson reimbursed by the RNC

3 Clothing returned

who takes the refund $$

If it went back to the campaign, it would likely violate McCain-Feigold if they use the $.
I'm just wondering if it's partly a shell game to add needed funds to the campaign.
