I'm less than 50 posts away from crossing the 20,000 mark.

My first post here was a few months after Bush's inauguration; I'll most likely hit 20,000 a few days before Obama is elected. Migod, what a ride it has been.

Thank you DU for getting me through these terrible years.

12. When I first found this board, one of the regular posters was a guy named Khephra.

He died a number of years ago--I'm sure before the 2004 election--and he had over 50,000 posts at that time. Khephra was much beloved by all of us. In comparison to his posting rate, I'm a piker.

.........it took me six years to get to a thousand! But, I have another 1400+ in the past year. I spend a lot of time here, probably too much, but it is much different than the atmosphere just outside my front door. It's my "political oasis"!

23. It has been a long long journey.

I lurked for years before subjecting everyone to my opinions. We've learned more than I ever expected.

I wanted to post this to say that today I turned someone on to DU. I bought a tv through her company. When I called for shipping to make sure it got here by election day, we started talking. It ends up she really needed an outlet. So you have 20,000 and maybe there will be another first post from someone new.

It is hard to believe just how much has happened since it began. Congratulations. Let's hope the ride improves.
