Attention - creative graphics folks - could you do this?

It just struck me looking at the red/blue voting prediction maps -

The Repubs always look strong regardless of the facts because so many red states are so large in terms of area, yet their actual populations are relatively small. The maps almost always make it look like the blue states and Dem vote is just barely ahead, if that.

So here's my idea -

Could you draw the map, but put the states in a scale that reflects the amount of their electoral votes? I imagine that Montana would become the size of Delaware, Alaska would be the size of Rhode Island, etc., and THEN fill in the red vs blue. It would be interesting to look at a map like that.

I wish that liberal sites and blogs would begin posting that map. Scratch that - I wish the news sites and all blogs would post it. It gives a much truer picture of the way the US is going.
