"The View's" Elisabeth Hasselbeck lashed out against the campaign's ad buy, calling it "repulsive".
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 05:58 AM by Are_grits_groceries
On SIRIUS' “Barbara Live,” Barbara Walters joined by her good friend New York Post columnist Cindy Adams chatted with Barbara's The View co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck about her weekend of campaigning in Florida with Republican vice presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Obviously both sides are trying to run and create image. So if we use this as, so they both have funds and are creating an image, making sure their candidates are where they need to be seen, as they need to be. I find it completely then repulsive to then - if we want to look at spending - see how Barack Obama now is going to spend what $3 million on two thirty minute ads that are going to run this week.

BARBARA WALTERS: He's got the money and he wants to win.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: That to me is, in terms of the economy is - that is repulsive.

8. People donated the money so he could market himself to the People
Elisabeth, you're repulsive.

Obama is using the money to fight back against the message of idiots like you. Obama supporters donated the money specifically so that he could use it to get out his message. A big problem many people have with Kerry is that he didn't fight back enough with his message. Obama is doing exactly what his supporters want him to do.

Your husband still an unemployed, lousy football player, Elisabeth?

20. Except, at least Limbaugh has a modicum of popular appeal.
Hasselbeck just has a screechy voice that interjects itself where it's not welcome, demanding attention, like a harpy.

alrighty then! The GOP would've been dead years ago, if we did have fairness in campaign finance and media coverage.

14. she acts like he is using the money for clothes and other personal items
now THAT would be repulsive. especially when the people donated to an organization that is supposed to help all candidates for the party and not the individual themselves.

17. Pure jealously on her part.
Her candidate has been unable to raise the same amounts of money that Obama has raised. Obama has revolutionized fundraising. Obama has tapped into a HUGE bloc of people who are willing to donate over and over and over again. The average donation to Obama is $86, according to David Plouffe. Look at the Obama fundraising here at DU. The goal has been raised twice...it's now $125,000. And I think we can get there.

It's called dedication, Ms. Hasselbeck. The supporters of Obama/Biden are more dedicated. They are more...fired up, to use a term...for their candidate. We WANT him to win. And it appears...especially after Obama raised $150 million last month...that we are willing to donate as much as we can to help Obama win. And I'm not seeing that kind of dedication with Ms. Hasselbeck's candidate.

23. You're right. She's bitter and jealous.
You're kind to try to explain it to her, but she'll say/do anything to justify her POV. She's rabidly obsessed with and invested in her 'R' party.

18. Yep...He Should Be Getting The Airtime For Free...
Supposedly these are "public" airwaves...at least in theory. Back in the "stoned ages" of the 60's and 70's, many candidates would buy airtime on or near the election to do what Senator Obama is doing. Yes, it's repulsive he has to spend as much money and that the need for networks like ABC to make money suprcedes any interest in airing the key issues of what is a very important election. American Broadcating Company?

I also advocate time set aside for the repugnicans as well...and that local stations should set aside time for their local races. In a former life of a radio program director, our station always made an effort to bring in all the local candidates prior to the elections...interview them on our own and then open up the phone lines for questions from voters. We also gave them 5 minutes of free time to record a final appeal/message that aired the day before the election...free of charge...but those were bygone days.

Cheers...

24. Funny that someone who gets their paycheck from TV ad revenue...
... would complain about people spending money on TV advertising.

I wonder, "in terms of the economy", if she would find someone who spent $3.25 million this year for a condo in Manhattan repulsive? I mean, given the current state of the real estate market, couldn't one have been more frugal and used the money that could have been saved to help others in these difficult financial times?
