Richard Dreyfuss slams "W" movie.
Calls Oliver Stone a fascist.

Richard Dreyfuss appeared on "The View" to publicize "W.," in which he plays Dick Cheney, but ended up criticizing the film and director Oliver Stone instead.

When asked why he made the film, he said he did it for "money." Dreyfuss also said, "I think it's 6/8ths of a great film."

Asked how it was to work with Oliver Stone, he said "imagine working for Sean Hannity... you can be a fascist, even when you're on the left."

1. Actually numbnuts you can't be a fascist on the left
by definition it is an extreme RW ideology. Call us commies to your ignorant minds' content but fascism is firmly on the right end of the spectrum.

2. I think Mr. Dreyfuss is a liberal. He is referring to that, when he says
that he was behaving like a Fascist in the movie. I don't believe that you are aware of Mr. Dreyfuss' political views.

5. I don't believe his characterization of Oliver Stone is accurate
'Demanding' is not synonymous with 'fascistic.' A more appropriate term would have been 'martinet,' but there's no way Oliver Stone can be labeled a fascist.

7. I think Dreyfuss is missing the point with respect to the general population missing
I saw the movie on Friday. Seems to me the reason the general population is missing from the movie is because (1) junior was sheltered from us by his handlers and (2) junior did not care in what direction the general public was headed. His decisions were influenced by a half-dozen idealogues to the detriment of the rest of us.

He was, and still is, convinced he has the answers with his "gut" feelings. He does not need facts or the wisdom of others.

8. My guess with that comment.. He thinks that Stone is ignorant (Hannity) and
ruled the set with dictorial iron fist. I do know that Stone finished the movie with super swift speed and that's probably why.

Richard is a huge Liberal and was probably very disappointed that Stone was so sympathetic to Shrub.

13. I suspect that may be part of it too
I've read other accounts of actors working with Stone saying he can be quite the prick as a director, but fascist is a bit much.

9. Richard is a great Democrat and Progressive
Stone? Well I guess he votes with us and is politically liberal, but Dreyfuss' choice of words perfectly describes Stone's demeanor and methodologies on the set and in the office in my opinion. Workig for Sean Hannity sounds about right from what I've heard, only to be honest I've heard far worse stories about Stone's behavior toward individuals than about Hannity. Dreyfuss gets big money, as do most of Stone's players, but note if you will how few make a second Stone pic. That is not for nothing.

12. We saw 'W' last week.
I had mixed feelings about it and recommended folks wait for the DVD and rent it. Not worth the ticket price.

I'd call it a classic Shakespearean tragedy.
Or as close as Stone can come to one, anyway.
It does paint dumbya as a sympathetic character, as in one who deserves sympathy.
And the ending is stark.
Kind of leaves you just hanging.
