McCain wants to "restore" freedom and democracy to Cuba
McCain attempted to tap into anti-Castro sentiment by vowing to "restore freedom and democracy" on the island, criticizing Obama for advocating a policy of diplomatic engagement.

"I think we all know that the Cuban-American vote can be vital to whether I win Florida or not," McCain said. "So I do want to say again that we will never waver in our mission to restore freedom and democracy.

Because Batista loved freedom and democracy sooooo much, right, John McCain?

1. Great! Is that ANOTHER sovereign country he's going to attack?
So far it's Iraq, Iran, Russia, North Korea, and Cuba. Am I missing any?

5. Good idea! A war that would be closer to home, and we already have a base and prison there!
He's a genius!

(/sarcasm)

6. And how does the idiot propose to do this?
You know the embargo has worked so well in restoring "freedom and democracy" :sarcasm: What would that idiot McCain do differently to address the lack of relationship we have with Cuba when all he knows to do is threaten and engage in diplomacy through the barrel of a gun? Engagement with adversaries and an understanding of your needs and theirs is a strategy that Obama would use. Cuba has made tiny strides in increasing some freedoms to their people, but McCain would most likely re stoke the fears and anger of the leaders with his Yankee imperialism.

7. Just another example
Just another example of McSame's "do anything, say anything" campaign. He's desperately trying to hustle the (older Cuban vote in S. Florida, the same group that gave the 2000 selection to Bush. He couldn't give a rat's ass about Cuba = just another empty promise to gather a few more votes. What he doesn't realize is that there is a whole new generation of Cuban Americans who are much more open to Obama's ideas about engaging Cuba, starting with lifting the pointless embargo and who don't still dwell on Bay of Pigs. Just another too little, too late for Gramps.

8. "Restore freedom"? He must mean he wants to bring back
the idyllic days of Batista. Yeah, Johnnie, great idea.

9. He's going to spread democracy around the world!!!
And cut taxes, balance the budget, stop terrorism, solve healthcare, shore up social security...

He'll just say anything to get elected.

10. He's had the "answer" to all our "problems" for decades!
Why the hell has he not shared this valuable information with one other person?

Has he been holding on to this earth-shattering knowledge until it could help him get elected?

11. What the fuck is he talking about? They had freedom and democracy under Batista?
I don't think so...

They had a perverted, oppressive form of capitalism, but that's about it...

12. Democracy? In addition to Batista 'policy', Cuba was home to the CIA and Mafiia. Is that what
McCain is referring to - 'guests' from a Democracy?
