RW'er: Equality is not for America!!1111!
Right wing radio host, Dennis Prager, who calls Bachmann a “wonderful, wonderful extraordinary human being,” addressed the brouhaha by telling how he would’ve dealt with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews — by asking Matthews if he believes there are “American values” in the first place; if Matthews agrees, then “logic 1.1″ dictates that some people must hold anti-American values.

He added that both parties once upheld the “American value system” — the Democrats in the era of Kennedy and Truman — but the “Sixties Generation, the radicals, have taken over one of our two parties. They must be stopped!” People who “vote blue,” he added, “don’t know they’re voting radical.”

No fan of the Enlightenment, Prager added, “Equality, which is the primary value of the left, is a European value, not an American value.”

Let's ask the Declaration of Independence and the 14th Amendment what they think about this, huh?

2. We hold these truths to be self-evident
that all men are created equal...

Fucking loser. And bigger losers eating that shit up that don't even know enough about their country's founding to challenge it.

4. He's sort-of right, historically.
That doesn't make it a good thing.

There was no equivalent to "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" during the American Revolution. The emphasis in this country has always been on equality before the law, not equality of condition. Which has led, over and over, to the usurpation of power by the rich, until the people see the light and institute reforms that alter that equation. Then the rich spend the following decades undoing those reforms or finding ways around them, until things get so bad, the people wise-up once again and institute more change. We are in one of those crisis phases right now.

Unfortunately, this time the crisis is so extreme, both economically and ecologically, I doubt the situation is ultimately going to be fixable. All we can do is try.
