So, two old ladies start a blog
Seems 2 old ladies (yeah, I can really talk) who have been best friends for 60 years, start a blog. One lives in TX, and one lives in Maine....hilarity ensues. Political and other subjects. Worth a check out.

9. Cannot really decide if this is authentic
What do you guys think...is this really by the 2 old ladies or by someone pretending to be the 2 old ladies? I read the "about" and "why blog" and some of the comments, and just can't decide. Seems authentic.

women's movement.

I marched with them, organized with them, setup and broke down events with them and then when the day's work was done, I sat around the kitchen table with them and listened to their stories.

Oh yeah, they sound like many of the women I knew and learned from.

Except, perhaps, they've cleaned up their language a bit.

edit to add: and aw, hell, even if it is fake, it's a fun read.

30. If you go back and look at the beginning of the blog, it really
does look authentic.

Why shouldn't it be? Old people are just regular people who've been around a lot longer...

11. Fell out of my chair
"Did any of you watch the news shows this weekend? And I am not talking about Troopergate because everyone saw that coming. I’m talking about the video from the McCain rallies. Clearly we now have proof positive that you shouldn’t sleep with your cousin.

My hat’s off to McCain for trying to set the record straight about Obama not being an Arab, but what does it say about his judgment that he handed a live microphone to Ma and Pa Kettle in the first place? I mean what truck and tractor pull was cancelled to make room for that stop on the Straight Talk Express?"

12. "What was I thinking when I called Sarah Palin a bitch?"
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 07:08 PM by Cerridwen
I am surprised that some of you are up in arms about my calling Sarah Palin a bitch, or John McCain an ass or even George Bush a jackass. I read your comments about how I should be more respectable and not call Sarah Palin a bitch. Some of you are actually praying for me because I called John McCain an ass. In particular I am struck by the comments that suggest the problem with our country is that we can’t have an intelligent conversation to solve our problems without resorting to name calling like when I called George Bush a jackass.

<snip>

I am tired of Rush Limbaugh suggesting that feminism is a dirty word. How hard did he fight to gain the right to vote? Or own property in his own name? Or get equal pay for equal work?

<snip>

Oh…and one last thing. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is still a moron. There is just no way around that, Folks.

I swear I used to march with her - or her sister.

edit for wayward copy and paste

"I have three children with my husband Harold.

Margaret has three dogs with her husband Howard."

I am sure she did not mean it that way....

18. If you haven't read it yet "Harold! The rat is back!"
You know, Harold and I had a mouse problem once. We tried everything and couldn’t get rid of it. My children were young at the time and begged us to keep it as a pet. I had to teach them about diseases and germs and all things rodent. No. This was not appropriate to keep as a pet no matter how cute it appeared. Come to think of it, its squeak was kind of quirky and I could have sworn it winked at me on more than one occasion. But I held firm. I had to protect my children. It needed to go and eventually it did. But now it seems to be back sporting designer frames and an up-swept hairdo.

23. Sarah Palin is a bitch ...

That, I think, is the one and only time I have called anyone a bitch on this forum. It will likely be the last, at least for some time, but I felt inspired.

I thank Margaret for the freedom.

"I will stop calling Sarah Palin a bitch when she stops calling Obama a terrorist sympathizer. And I will stop calling Sarah Palin a bitch when she stops calling the parts of the country where I don’t live more Pro-American than the part of the country where I do live. And I will definitely stop calling Sarah Palin a bitch when she stops acting like a bitch."

Just awesome ...

26. Thanks Ann...
I enjoyed this very much.
Philpot is a very unusual name.
My Ob who delivered my children(in the 70's) had the same name and wit.
He was constantly raising money for his patients ("those poor people") and donating his services, may he RIP.
