sick of my freeper friends and their abortion hang up...took it to a former friend
this lady has been a friend for over 20 years.

she lives in my former RED town...

saw her in the mall today

Her: I was going to email you. I have a cute picture of a dog whizzing on an Obama sign

Me: I have the same dog whizzing on a bush/McPain sign...so...

Her: why do you want Obama

Me: What exactly do you benefit from McCain?

Me: I know you don't make over 50 thous...why can't you realize that under Obama you would benefit more. I also know your son and his wife don't have health care for their newborn...don't you want better?

Her: But Obama wants to allow abortions.

Me: You are over 50 and will never have to worry about getting one so what is it to you?

Her: I have a teen age daughter

Me: WHO HAS ALREADY HAD AN ABORTION.... OH...YOU DIDN'T KNOW we knew all about it?

(before you get upset...MOM took this girl for the abortion...the secret was that the rest of the family and friends were not supposed to know)

BOOOOOO YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I hate hypocrisy

she suddenly remembered she needed to hurry and make her purchase at Sears because she had a 2 hour drive back home...my old hometown.

I told her to drive safely and to remember to fill up as our gas prices under our Democratically run congress were at 1.97

4. I'd betcha Sarah had one too thats why her medical records never have been released.
I hate those that try to live in glass houses. The McCain campaign has her records because they would have had to see them if she was vetted as they say. WHY? are they not releasing them. What is she hiding if it not an abortion? Sure makes one wonder the only person running whose records have been concealed.

18. She fits the MO...
They do not understand hypocrisy. Why should her daughter have choice if she doesn't allow others to? Because she pretends her daughter's 'problem' never existed to begin with.

They have spoken to us in this manner for the last 8 years. It's time we found our voice. I'm proud of you!

14. Way to go! Make her EAT her hypocrisy.
Why is it that so many people who just HATE abortions, don't support sex education, access to birth control, prenatal care, national health care, or anti-poverty programs?

Why don't they work to prevent unwanted pregnancies? Why don't they personally provide financial support and prenatal care for expectant mothers who agree to carry their kids to term? Why don't they adopt more kids themselves?

I can understand people who oppose abortion because they care about all life, and show it with their actions. But when they IGNORE the woman's health and rights before conception, and after birth, they're just HYPOCRITES who want to control women and enforce their own moral code on everyone else.

If life begins at conception, why do they celebrate birthdays? Ask 'em why they don't celebrate their conception day instead.

19. "The Only Moral Abortion is My Abortion"

"The Only Moral Abortion is My Abortion"

When the Anti-Choice Choose

By Joyce Arthur
Copyright © September, 2000

Abortion is a highly personal decision that many women are sure they'll never have to think about until they're suddenly faced with an unexpected pregnancy. But this can happen to anyone, including women who are strongly anti-choice. So what does an anti-choice woman do when she experiences an unwanted pregnancy herself? Often, she will grin and bear it, so to speak, but frequently, she opts for the solution she would deny to other women -- abortion.

In the spring of 2000, I collected the following anecdotes directly from abortion doctors and other clinic staff in North America, Australia, and Europe. The stories are presented in the providers' own words, with minor editing for grammar, clarity, and brevity. Names have been omitted to protect privacy.

20. The religious right EXISTS because abortion was decided by 7 SC judges instead of by a vote...
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 09:56 PM by newtothegame
Not to be a downer, as Obama has done a great job of picking some of these people up, but we will never move the majority to our side (even though its in their economic interest to do so) until they get a chance to vote on this issue state-by-state. And I don't see that happening. Single most divisive issue in the country.

On edit I work with a bunch of these religious nutjobs; they're not even worth my breath in a conversation because they are so hard-line on this.

21. No we do not need to vote on this state
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 03:21 AM by awoke_in_2003
by state. Most of the states in the south will vote it down. Roe v Wade was a decision about the right of a woman to make a medical decision with the privacy of her doctor. I am so tired of hearing about states rights- the US Constitution trumps all state constitution. If we left things up to the states, blacks would still not be allowed to vote in the south.

on edit: just so you know, most of us know that "states rights" and "should be decided by the states" are code words from a party other than the Democratic one.

just making the point that it being a SC decision is what CAUSED the religious right to rise up in the first place.

26. I think that the religious right rose up because the Republicans encouraged them to do so.
If it hadn't been abortion, it would have been gay rights or women's rights or something else. The Republicans recognized that the religious right could be a very effective, loyal voting bloc. Religous extremists seek authoritarian structures. The want other people to tell them what to do. They don't want to think for themselves - it frightens them. The religious right was already full of con artists - TV preachers who claimed to heal people over the airwaves, promises of eternal life in return for contributions of money, etc. Those techniques have been very useful to the Republican Party.

33. Not so much. Starting about page 3 of the .pdf linked below,
you'll read about the Catholic Church and one Bishop James T. McHugh and his role in establishing the early anti-choice movement. You'll notice this document is in "their" own words. It is in fact, a tribute to one of the early founders of the anti-choice movement. They are very proud of their work and their influence in the political sphere and their efforts to criminalize women who have abortions or who use birth control.

This is only one in a series of documents and articles I've been collecting about the Catholic Churche's role in founding and funding the anti-choice movement in the US.

And I hope you gave the daughter a 'heads up' as to what her mother now knows. Big mistake, IMHO.

Better ways to educate about individual choices than telling someone's private business.

When the subject of abortion comes up in conversations I have with people or I get ambushed by someone of the Christian right I just ask them, Do they believe in the existence of a soul? If they reply yes, than I explain to them a soul is made of pure energy, an aspect of Divinity that cannot be destroyed because according to the laws of physics, energy cannot be destroyed. Don't religions teach that the soul lives on outside the body after death. At this point the person(s) looking for a way to retreat but I don't let them get away. I than say since the soul is an aspect of Divinity it is far more intelligent than you, I or anyone in a physical body so it has the wisdom and intelligence to know if it wants to incarnate into a specific body and a specific family. If they don't like the family they are going to incarnate into and from Prajñā -wisdom that is based on the direct realization know whatever lessons that will come to that family or soul group as they are also called, will not be learned, there is an agreement between the higher selves of the soul to incarnate and the mother, to not go any further with the relationship. My feeling is the soul has the wisdom and intelligence to know if it wants to be here or not. If that soul wants to go, it will find a way. Sometime there is a miscarriage, pre-term birth or abortion. By this time the person's head is swimming and they just walk away-quickly. I get crazy when people drop energetic bombs on people and than try and leave before the person has time to diffuse the argument. I don't let them.
