The Taliban as big of assholes that they are, were actually welcomed by the Afghan people in the beginning. That is how they took power. The Northern Alliance who the US backed were supposed to be the real sonsabitches. Their specialty was terrorizing by rape. Imagine the Taliban being the best of the bunch?
