1. Remember, Matthews desperately needs Obama's help in the '10 midterms.
I'm quite convinced he's running for Specter's Senate seat.

4. I haven't let him out of his cage yet or forgiven him
for his love of Sylvester Bush. But he's great right now.

7. Remember, Matthews came of age during JFK and worked in the Peace Corp
I think he genuinely sees Obama as a transformative figure and is excited about him.

Earlier this year, I don't remember exactly when. I think that the death of Tim Russert hit him hard as well -- looking harder at his place it the world. JMHO. I have been watching Tweety a long time, though.

9. Yeah. I thought the accent was familiar.
There are a lot of asswipes in Maryland. I often wonder how Dems consistently win there.

15. I think even he may be getting sick of the "attack politics" of the past 20 yrs
Ever since '92, it's been angry, nasty, dog-eat-dog
(yes, "hardball") politics, and I think many of the
people who genuinely LOVE "political science" in the
classic sense have grown REALLY tired of having to
try and make a stale, sour game seem fresh. It's
about time to return to a more civil discourse, where
arguments are based on IDEAS and not just personal
attacks. I think we'll see a VERY different (im-
proved?) Tweety in the New Year (God willing when
we have President Obama).
