Saying it had something to do with the Patriot Act.

Now those civil rights are a priority.

I posted that this was an emergency situation a few days ago. It sank like a rock.

Democrats made this one a win for "traditional marriage".

I didn't donate enough money...I didn't help out in any other ways, I feel guilty and sick about this apparent outcome. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this will be the shame of our time. Not the bigotry and open hostility of the right, at least they are up front in their hatred...at least you can see and know the enemy. It will be the putting off the fight, turning a blind eye, claiming political "inconvenience", telling them to be patient year after year...that the end to this denial of civil rights is in sight. That will be the shame of the Democratic party, and we are all complicit.

3. Civil Rights can never be left to the tyranny of the mob. Voters can NEVER be trusted with them.
Ever.

5. True, but there are no limits on the California proposition process.
Someone could propose a law tomorrow banning anyone over five foot five from the state, and it will become law if the majority of people vote for it. ANYONE can propose ANY law via the proposition process.

The courts are there to sort out the unconstitutional ones. As they will in this case.

7. And that's what needs to be changed
— California's referendum system. Anyone with the bucks and the organization to circulate petitions can get anything on the ballot for the votes of ignorant fuckpies.

I think we also need some regulation on political advertising. The haters used more blatant distortions than I could keep track of.
