CAIR: NY Muslim Beaten by Gang Shouting 'Obama'

Last update: 11:41 a.m. EST Nov. 6, 2008
WASHINGTON, Nov 06, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Islamic civil rights group asks FBI to probe assault as hate crime
A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called on the FBI to launch a hate crime investigation into an Election Night assault on a New York Muslim by a gang allegedly angry that Barack Obama was elected president.
The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said media reports indicate that four "white men" beat a Muslim of Liberian heritage as he was walking near his Staten Island home. The victim said the alleged attackers jumped from a car and attacked him after shouting "Obama." Local law enforcement authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime.

1. Were these thugs pro-America, or anti-America?
Michele Bachmann wants to know.

3. Staten Island voted pretty red from what I heard
A friend of mine from Chicago was confused when she was checking out the maps on the web to see how different places were voting. She wanted to know what was up with Staten Island! It was always a mysterious place to me when I was growing up in Queens.

6. And now close to half the population is Italian.

As to who did it, it's pure conjecture at this point.

Isolated from people? Check.
Wealthy? Check. (Or rather, THINKS they're wealthy enough to support repugs. In some cases they are right, but not all.)

Red-voting, here we come!

8. Woodhaven, here
:hi:

I love the Colorado mountains but still go down to Rockaway when we visit NYC. I always want to go out on the rock jetties all the way to the end where the waves crash up. :D

As a young adult I had a friend in Howard Beach, and one of the things I loved most then, was to go to the wild life refuge and photograph. My friend and my best friend, his wife moved to Englewood, Colorado in the 70's and I flew out there to visit them, and they took me on great jeep rides through the Rocky Mountains. Beautiful place. :) I had just broken up with my boyfriend, and like many split-ups, they wound up taking his side and we lost touch.

Most of the years I lived in Queens was in Kew Garden Hills, near Queens College (which was an incredible playground during the 60's). :)

:hi:

13. Act 3, Scene 3
SCENE III. A street.

Enter CINNA the poet

CINNA THE POET
I dreamt to-night that I did feast with Caesar,
And things unlucky charge my fantasy:
I have no will to wander forth of doors,
Yet something leads me forth.

Enter Citizens

First Citizen
What is your name?

Second Citizen
Whither are you going?

Third Citizen
Where do you dwell?

Fourth Citizen
Are you a married man or a bachelor?

Second Citizen
Answer every man directly.

First Citizen
Ay, and briefly.

Fourth Citizen
Ay, and wisely.

Third Citizen
Ay, and truly, you were best.

CINNA THE POET
What is my name? Whither am I going? Where do I
dwell? Am I a married man or a bachelor? Then, to
answer every man directly and briefly, wisely and
truly: wisely I say, I am a bachelor.

Second Citizen
That's as much as to say, they are fools that marry:
you'll bear me a bang for that, I fear. Proceed; directly.

CINNA THE POET
Directly, I am going to Caesar's funeral.

First Citizen
As a friend or an enemy?

CINNA THE POET
As a friend.

Second Citizen
That matter is answered directly.

Fourth Citizen
For your dwelling,--briefly.

CINNA THE POET
Briefly, I dwell by the Capitol.

Third Citizen
Your name, sir, truly.

CINNA THE POET
Truly, my name is Cinna.

First Citizen
Tear him to pieces; he's a conspirator.

CINNA THE POET
I am Cinna the poet, I am Cinna the poet.

Fourth Citizen
Tear him for his bad verses, tear him for his bad verses.

CINNA THE POET
I am not Cinna the conspirator.

Fourth Citizen
It is no matter, his name's Cinna; pluck but his
name out of his heart, and turn him going.

Third Citizen
Tear him, tear him! Come, brands ho!
