Sarah Palin’s failure set to reap her $7m book deal
From The Sunday Times
November 16, 2008

Tony Allen-Mills in New York
She failed to save John McCain from presidential election doom, but Sarah Palin, the Republican senator’s controversial running mate, may yet emerge as the saviour of the American publishing industry. Literary agents are queueing up to sign her to a book deal that could earn her up to $7m.

With Barack Obama’s election victory certain to generate dozens of volumes from politicians, strategists and journalists – and with another shelfload of memoirs expected from members of President George W Bush’s administration – Palin’s personal account of her tumultuous introduction to national politics is widely regarded as the book most likely to repay a multi-million-dollar advance.

“She’s poised to make a ton of money,” said Howard Rubenstein, New York’s best-known public relations adviser.

<snip>

...there are already signs that conservative Republicans, thrilled by Palin’s right-wing views, are manoeuvring to keep her in the public eye with a view to the 2012 elections and beyond. One group, called Our Country Deserves Better, last week collected tens of thousands of dollars to pay for television advertisements to run over the forthcoming Thanksgiving holiday. The adverts are to thank Palin for her efforts.

1. Which will be ghost-written for her, as she is subliterate.

22. Hey there, you. Good to run into you as always, and thank
you for the vigilant updates on the Senate race in AK between Mark Begich and Tubes Stevens.

I'm rooting with all my might for Begich. He's a decent guy and of course Stevens is an ethically compromised old hack.

26. Always great to "see" you, OC.
Yes, I am quite pleased that the mayor has pulled ahead now. I don't know Mark personally, but he was a good councilman, has been a successful mayor, and I hope will make us proud in Washington, I'm sure we'll all be keeping an eye on him. :)

29. Say, I wonder Coultergeist feels knowing (as she must somewhere in the
dark recesses in her horrible, reptilian brain) that she has been replaced as the jerk-off fantasy babe among the mouth-breather set.

5. This is shameful.
She's getting $7,000,000 for what, exactly?

There's no life story to tell.

Unless, she'll tell the whole sordid story, including info on her cult.

6. Before she writes (or "writes") a book, shouldn't she read one?
Edited on Sat Nov-15-08 07:22 PM by Phredicles
On edit: Hey, what if she writes just like she talks? She'll definitely make that $7M if she gets paid by the "also".:scared::eyes::puke:

9. $7 mil for a pamphlet?
I'm sure she has tips for how to field-dress a caribou or how to dress well on a budget.

But if she wants to write about her thoughts, she has to get some first.

17. You all just aren't getting it - PALIN IS IMPORTANT - doesn't mean you have to like her . .
.
.
.

But trashing her just gives her more visibility and press coverage.

SHE AIN'T STUPID.

get that through your heads

For a country that let Bush reign for two terms with impunity, I'm surprised at the outrage.

If indeed the liberal side of the USA has a problem with Sarah Palin,

I suggest they take a mature attitude to deflate her image.

Snide remarks and photo shopping ain't gonna cut it.

But whadda I know . .

right?

20. I'm looking forward to any nasty tell-alls from McCain-Palin campaign folk
One from Sarah herself, not so much... She's not particularly intelligent, so I doubt she could provide much in the way of insight, and she's still in elected office, so she's not likely to reveal anything juicy; what would a Palin book buyer/reader be expecting in the way of anything worthwhile?

21. I expected this.....
same with Joe the plumbers book, look, fact of the matter is that both books will be garbage and only useful for wiping ones ass with. I do hope she runs in 2012 though, with Joe the plumber standing behind her as her VP, that would make winning in 2012 for us a bit easier.

I bet it has an initial pop from goofy Sarah fans then winds up in the remainder pile before you know it. Much like Sarah herself.

Edit: Damn it, post 19 beat me to it. Oh well. The point still stands. :D
