This Little Boy is an Inspiration.
I first saw this story on the local news last week, and burst into tears. He saw a homeless tent city on the way home from one of his doctor's appointments and wanted to help because it bothered him. His dying wish was that people would bring PB&J's to the homeless, and cheese sandwiches just in case some of the homeless were allergic to peanuts. God, the mind of a child. Every time I see this story on the news or read about it, I bawl my fucking eyes out. I used to not cry so much, but things are achangin' in this world. Some for the better, some for the worst, but mostly for the better, so that is why I'm leaking like a sieve these days. He reminds me so much of my nephew, who I nicknamed, 'The Brenman' shortly after his birth. This is a boy, who, at 11, has run out of time, but he knows what this gig is all about. Much more so than most people on this planet:

BOTHELL, Wash. -- The local boy whose dying wish to feed the homeless inspired thousands across the world has taken a turn for the worse.

Brenden Foster is growing weaker, but his message is growing stronger.

His body is failing, his skin yellowing. His mother is trying to decide on the wording for his grave marker.

"B-Man is his nickname, or Mr. B. But most people call him B-Man," said Wendy Foster.

The end is near, and Brenden has one question for God.

"Why at so young an age? I could have done more. But if it has to be now, it has to be now," he said.

It's easy to imagine all he could have accomplished after seeing what the 11 year old has achieved in his final days. Brenden's dying wish to help the homeless has touched hearts from Saudi Arabia to South Carolina. Many of them left voice messages for their new hero.

"We saw you on television and love you with all of our hearts and we're praying for you," said Gayle Cleveland.

"(I'm) 59 years old and it brings tears to my eyes every time I see him -- someone with that initiative that wants to help the homeless," said Danny Billingsly.

I've donated towards his last wish, and if I'm not laid off next week, will donate more towards his memorial.

1. I could just cry
If only more people were like him. Just think what the world would be like.

To 'get' at 11 what it takes people several lifetimes to even begin to comprehend. It's about love. And sharing. And giving. Without pre-conditions.

During the Bush years, I ceased to believe that one person could change the world. Now I really believe that again, from a little boy helping the homeless, to an election where the most qualified person, even though he's *gasp* 'not quite white', is voted into office, to a nation deciding that allowing adults who love each other to marry, regardless of sexual preference, is the right thing to do. I've been listening to Dylan's song for a couple years now, because I've sensed that another re-evolution is brewing, and hoped so much this was true. Well, it damn well is, and the people clinging to the old ways and ideas need to get out of the way.
