Plame, Wilson to take CIA leak lawsuit to Supreme Court
Nick Cargo ~ RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday November 18, 2008

Former CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson and her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, plan to take their civil lawsuit against Bush administration officials to the Supreme Court after a federal circuit court refused to rehear the case on Monday.

Wilson v. Cheney, filed in 2006, charges that Bush administration officials such as Vice President Cheney, and aides Karl Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, violated Plame's constitutional rights in allegedly engineering the outing Plame, who was undercover at the time, as retaliation against her husband, an Iraq war critic, who had been sent to Niger in 2002 to investigate the possible sale of yellowcake uranium to Iraq. While Wilson reported back that such sales were unlikely to have taken place, President Bush asserted to the contrary in his 2003 State of the Union address, prompting Wilson to speak out publicly in a July 6, 2003 New York Times piece entitled "What I Didn't Find in Africa."

Plame Wilson's cover was famously blown while she was helping track distribution and acquisition of weapons of mass destruction in Iran. Her name was leaked to columnist Robert Novak, who published it in his July 14, 2003 column. He said in July 2007 that the source of the leak was former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, but said that it was not meant to be a deliberate act on the part of the White House to hurt the Wilsons.

In August, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit upheld a district judge's dismissal of the suit saying that it failed to establish a constitutional issue.

"There must be consequences when government officials abuse their power and endanger national security for political ends," said CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan on Tuesday. "This is an issue worth fighting over and we will not give up."

8. That's my thought too. Maybe some of the older justices have just been waiting for Obama
to be inauguated before they retire. Let's hope.

4. is their attempt to hold wrong doers accountable a way of under cutting Obama?
I'm not sure if this is a good thing.

If there are Democrats that are actually trying to hold evil doers accountable will that contrast poorly with the Obama/Senate Dem program of giving evil doers prize appointments? It seems we are getting mixed messages here.

16. He did have a kind of eery vibe to him, didn't he?
kind of like "I'd better say this now, while I still can". On the other hand, it may save his life, since
he's now already spilled the beans in broad daylight, on video no less. The damage to Bush is already done.
what would be the point of "suiciding" him now? .. well, other than pure vengeance, which wouldn't surprise
me actually now that I think of how vengeful and murderous the Texas Mafia is.

12. I had thought that it was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds,
and that the district judge gave no opinion on the constitutionality of their claims?

Am I wrong or did something happen that I wasn't aware of?

15. Scott may be safer now than he was before he announced to the world that Bush is GUILTY as charged.
Now the cat's out of the bag ... Scotty's on record, complete with video.

The damage to Bush is already done. It may be the reason he came out so
publicly with it out of the blue, that he's concerned for his life, and at
least wants this to be in the public record before he's "suicided" by the Bush
thugs. But it may save his life too, by shining the light of day on it
"pre-emptively" out of the blue; so there's that.

The Mcllellan family has fallen out with the Bushes in a big way. I wouldn't be surprised if we see blood sometime early next year.

17. From last year,
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Judge_throws_out_Plame_lawsuit_0719.html
(snip)

A federal judge threw out a civil lawsuit former CIA agent Valerie Plame filed against members of the Bush administration, but the dismissal does not close all Plame's legal avenues.

The court dismissed the case on jurisdictional grounds without ruling on the constitutional issues brought by Plame.

The court ruled it lacked jurisdiction over Plame's case because she has not exhausted administrative remedies under the Federal Tort Claims Act, which is the "proper, and exclusive, avenue for relief on such a claim."

(snip)

There is every indication that the reason why Joe and Valerie Wilson can't get their day in court is because no one is willing to take jurisdiction in the matter. That's because they know that if they do then all the wrongdoing and criminal actions concerning this administration becomes the pandora's box that no one wants to open.
