Question about the stimulus package Obama keeps talking about.
Will we get the same amount of money that we got earlier this year or more or less?

I think a few months ago, I know most of my family got $300 or $600.

1. I don't think we know what it will look like.
It may not have any of those new checks.

4. I could be wrong, but Obama seems more intent on infrastructure investments
.... than in targeted rebates back to the citizens.

At least thats been the main highlight whenever I've heard him talk about a stimulus.

It really depends more on what Congress proposes.

5. If it's just a check ...

It's pointless. It would have the same long-term effect Bush's silliness did, i.e. none. Actually, it could be worse than that.

In any case, without spelling out details he and his team are currently in the process of formulating, he's made it pretty clear this will be geared toward long-term, sustainable improvement.

7. More and more people are out of work here in OR biggest umemployment rate since they started taking
percentages. What is wrong with a stimulus check for the average american. Damn if all these big corporations can get bailouts why not the little guy. I could really use a check about now and so could a few million more of us.

Why can't Obama do both, go after infrustructure and give us a check. Hell look at the checks they have given out so far and none of that will help the average person.

Give us a bailout and do what else but why should we be left out.

9. What helps you more?

One $1200 payment or a job where you make $1200 every month?

Is this a serious question?

10. Well in my case I am disabled and I am 62 years old. My husband will be 74 years old on the 28th. We
spent all day today going around our area (and surrounding towns) looking for a job for my husband as we are on a fixed income and are not making it. There were hundreds of applications turned in wherever we went. We will keep trying. We are not low enough income to get any assistance and we are like so many others we make too much (lol) which is not enough to make it.

Our income diminishes each year as insurance premiums go up and our income does not. Just in medical alone we pay hundreds a month to just keep us covered. My cupboards are pretty thin and my gas tank has a quarter tank of gas left til the 1st. We have no credit cards and watch every penny we spend. My husband was a IBM retiree and all his promised benefits have been taken away with no cost of living increase in all these years (since 1987). IBM was one of the few who had great profits this last quarter ... off the back of it's retirees...

Many people do not realize (especially if they are not in jeapardy of not having food in the house or of not being able to make the necessary payments to keep the utilities, mandated car insurance, etc.) that people are having a very rough time. We do not qualify for the food bank and our income is small. I talked to a woman on the phone who said since she had a job she wasn't really realizing how bad it was but now her friends are in trouble and she is saying how thankful she is to be working. Most people are falling through the cracks for just necessaties and it will get much worse and the public will realize just how many are being squeezed without any resolve or answers as the months go on. There is nothing for those in the middle.

Many people have no jobs and are losing them by the minute. As I said it would be good for Obama to work on jobs but also good if those who needed the stimulus check could get it. Why is it wrong to give to the average person and not wrong to gorgue the elites pockets with billions. I see two sets of standards. More for the haves and none for the have nots. Where is our break. Citibank has many job openings and needs billions, huh? I have no job and need a little. What is wrong with this scenario. Plenty! I want a bailout~
