Poll question: My 200th Post
I haven't done much here, but I have learned quite a bit, and feel a lot more in the loop when I am here.

I felt it was time to post my first poll in celebration with my landmark 200th post. 200 in 2 years, sad I know.

The poll I decided to do has to do with a subject I've been paying close attention to lately. I've seen both sides have interesting viewpoints, and I'm curious as to how DU views this as a whole.

Do you feel that military action should be taken against the Somali Pirates?

glamor of it. If the people there thought that there was help for them anywhere in the world, they might not be drawn to this desperate acction...

That said, we also have to stop them....

so count this as a "yes. . . AND" sort of answer.

2. I would agree with this and add real military action, not mercenary military action. n/t

4. My dear Soilent Brice!
Congrats on your 200th post!

I definitely feel that military action should be taken against these outlaw pirates!

I believe that the Indian government recently attacked them, and one boat was sunk, and the other fled...

If we don't smack them down, then they have no reason to change their ways...

My 2 cents...

5. Thanks Peggy!!
you were one of the first to welcome me here. :)

nice to see you again!!!

Thanks for the input also!!!

I think this needs to be discussed here. I think if it continues to be a successful venture the idea will soon spread to other countries. I am extremely sympathetic to the plight of the SOmali people at the same time though, so I'm torn. Hence the poll...

7. I think security needs to be a priority for oversea transport
not sure if companies or governments should pay though.. I guess the UN should take care of it..

8. Extra-national criminals
demand extra-national justice. The rise of the Somali pirates is the perfect excuse to develop a multi-national quick-deployment task force.

Of course, this is just a bandage on a leper. The real problem lies within Africa itself, and can only be addressed through the world's quick attention. I know, I know, good luck with that.
