Karl Rove orchestrating the ‘Bush Legacy project.’
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/12/02/legacy-project/

President Bush’s interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson this week was the “first of several planned ‘exit interviews.’” According to White House press secretary Dana Perino, Bush’s next interview will be with ABC’s Cynthia McFadden on the topic of the faith-based initiative. It will air on Nightline next week. If the first interview with Gibson provides any clue as to what we can expect from these interviews, Bush will paint a rosy picture of his legacy and “refuse to take responsibility for a single thing that went wrong on his watch.” Heather at Crooks and Liars catches the Weekly Standard’s Stephen Hayes revealing that Karl Rove is currently orchestrating the Bush legacy project:

here’s an ongoing Bush legacy project that’s been meeting in the White House, really, with senior advisers, Karl Rove, Karen Hughes has been involved, current senior Bush administration advisers and they are looking at how to sort of roll out the President’s legacy.

4. The Bush Legacy Project = Bush Fantasy
Who else but Karl to do it? He's a skilled liar. When he's finished, GWB will be Jesus/Washington/Lincoln/Gandhi rolled into one.

5. Rove and Hughes-the WIG people who sold the war on Iraq
which is typical of this group of incompetents-there is no policy or planning only politics

The faith based initiative is the same. The only purpose was to use cover for running his re-election campaign (because Rove got his ass kicked on the ground in 2000) from the Oval Office.

John Dilulio was the first senior Bush adviser to resign. Here's why.

CONFIDENTIAL
To: Ron Suskind
From: John Dilulio
Subject: Your next essay on the Bush administration
Date: October 24, 2002

Dear Ron:

For/On the Record

In eight months, I heard many, many staff discussions, but not three meaningful, substantive policy discussions. There were no actual policy white papers on domestic issues. There were, truth be told, only a couple of people in the West Wing who worried at all about policy substance and analysis, and they were even more overworked than the stereotypical, nonstop, 20-hour-a-day White House staff. Every modern presidency moves on the fly, but, on social policy and related issues, the lack of even basic policy knowledge, and the only casual interest in knowing more, was somewhat breathtaking — discussions by fairly senior people who meant Medicaid but were talking Medicare; near-instant shifts from discussing any actual policy pros and cons to discussing political communications, media strategy, et cetera. Even quite junior staff would sometimes hear quite senior staff pooh-pooh any need to dig deeper for pertinent information on a given issue.

11. Well, we can see that the media chuckleheads are on board
Bending over one more time for Rove's sake. With a great big smile.

They couldn't talk to him for years, couldn't get even a press "availability" when our nation was being sold down the river through phony "wars", torture, economic and natural disasters. A full-blown press conference? Fuhgeddaboudit! But now that Commander Bunnypants wants everyone to put on the rose-colored glasses for one more round of sycophancy, ABC jumps to the front of the line to let him play America's Optometrist. Accountability? Responsibility? No how, no way, no siree bob.

But come January 21, oh boy! Suddenly the media will remember that they aren't an arm of the White House public relations staff.
