Poll question: The Weather Underground
Broadly speaking, what is your opinion on the late Weather Underground, and of Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn?

1. They were kids going up against a machine and a war that was killing
many of their friends and harming a country of innocent victims (sound familiar). Like Ayers said, on reflection, it didn't work.. and did cause harm to a few of their members.

2. I saw nothing wrong with being in these groups.
Every one I knew at this time was not for that war and the odd part is I lived in the middle of the biggest war center in the country. Charleston SC. I was also married to a service man that sure as hell did not want to go to Viet Num and the service hospitals were filled with young men from that war. My dau. even worked as a red cross worker, with an OK from her father and I, so she could see what war did to young men. We could not figure out why we were in Viet Nam any more then any one we knew.

3. Over-privileged malcontents,
who did much more harm to the peace movement than good.

5. Neutral. A lot of upper middle class kids and long term
grad students blowing shit up. The movement was way to dictatorial for me personally, and I thought it pretty futile, but it really freaked out the powers that were, and kept the FBI occupied for about 15 years.
I was in my mid 20's around that time.
I don't think they should still be suffering the consequences for their actions it was a whole different world then.

7. To anyone living on Haight during 66-67 the Weatherment were a Godsend.
They are the ones that provided the "Free Store" and the Free Clinic and Food outlets.....They were our leaders at the time. Then they became more radical and got all political...But for a year or so they were wonderful..

10. I like Weather Underground/Bill Ayers threads.
It allows me & everyone else to see who has a 'conservative movement' version of history in their heads.
