If I could give them eyes to see...
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 06:37 AM by Jeffersons Ghost

If I could give them eyes to see - past profits from a war
Perhaps our troops could then be free - to live, just like before
Perhaps they'd see it clear as day - by seeing their own child
blowing other people's kids away - in a conflict, now gone wild

If I could give them ears to hear - the muffled cries at night
Perhaps they'd listen to that fear - as missiles take to flight
Perhaps they'd hear a mother's cry - weeping for her son
who bought into a vicious lie - which truly serves no one

If I could give them hearts to feel - the sorrow and the pain
Perhaps they'd touch some blood on steel - as missions go insane
Perhaps they'd feel their bones break - when hidden bombs explode
near troops that fight for freedom's sake - along a dusty road

If I could give them minds that think - about the greater cost
Perhaps we only win at war - when we measure what we've lost
Perhaps they'd learn to really win - we simply end a game
that measures score in countless death - on walls to black to name

1. I'll never forget my reaction the first time I saw that painting because
my reaction is the same every time. It mesmerizes me and I cry silently.

2. I want someone to photoshop a version of this painting with George W. Bush touching the wall...

... and the guys on the inside are giving him the finger.

or arms, or legs, or hearts

how about some help publicizing this poem I wrote with a few more recommendations

ALL IN ALL I GUESS IT'S JUST ANOTHER BRICK...

Hey You (Waters) 4:39

Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.

Hey you, out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you, with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home.

But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain.

Hey you, standing in the road
always doing what you're told,
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall,
Breaking bottles in the hall,
Can you help me?
Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.

4. Bush touching that wall would forever stain it with the blood of patriots
