Jill promised Joe that if he and Obama won he could have a puppy....
....and he got one. (from a breeder though)

...

Jill Biden promised her hubby that if he and Obama won the election they too would buy a dog

Biden's pup, from Jolindy's German shepherd kennel in Spring City, will be trained and housebroken over the next several weeks and delivered after the inauguration.

The owner of the kennel says Biden told her his grandchildren will get to pick a name.

1. Awwww. That's adorable.
And I don't care if he gets it from a responsible breeder or a shelter. It really is a personal choice.

2. I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That dog is beyond cute.

However, I know what paws that size mean. All shoes will be chewed, and a flying leap from a full-grown Fido will knock over smaller grandchildren.

Maaan. I wish I had the money to have a dog trained before I brought it home.

Then, MAYBE I could have one that cute.

On top of the 4 others I already have.

Yes, I have trouble going into candy stores without buying stuff.

I won't allow myself to look at the pound websites. I'd bring them all home.

3. Joe knows how to hold the pup so it feels secure, too.
Sign of a dog lover, imho.

4. Not all breeders are alike. My family has had three breeders who
used their family pets to have litters of puppies which they sold. I used to play with our puppies until they were sold. I am as against the kind of breeder you are talking about as much as you just because I know it does not have to be that way. This puppy is beautiful.

...there are good breeders out there - lots of them. I just wish he'd gotten a shelter dog! They need homes so badly.

7. We did that with our lab babies..all 9 of em
We got them ALL their puppy shots and never even advertised them until they were 10 weeks old..and anyone who even ASKED about how old they had to be before they could be bred, got a nice "Thanks, but no thanks".. We ended up keeping two..a yellow & a black..and we donated one to Guide Dogs of the Desert..and went to her graduation:)..She made the newspaper when she saved her "person" from being hit by a car..(both were uninjured)..

We had Mom spayed and never sold another puppy :)

How unfortunate.

10. And for falsifying records.

You have to be pretty damned sketchy for the AKC to take action.

edit:

http://www.akc.org/pdfs/about/board_minutes/0406.pdf (page 7)

The AKC's Management Disciplinary Committee has suspended Ms. Linda Brown, Spring City, PA, from all AKC privileges for one year, effective April 10, 2006, and imposed a $1000 fine for having submitted or caused to be submitted three litter registration applications that she knew, should have known, or had a duty to know contained false certifications as to the sire and/or dam (DNA exclusion). 9. Thanks for killing a shelter pup, Joe!
Yeah, I play the unpopular card.

Don't breed or buy while homeless animals die.

11. It's sad but absolutely true. I'm reposting this as a reminder:
not for you obviously, but for everyone else who forgets what perpetuating the cycle of unwanted pets really means:

14. Hahaha, wtf? How silly is this?
Did Joe hear that the Obama girls were getting a puppy so he whined a little to Barack and he promised to get Joe one too? :P
